This is an excellent hotel. I wish I could give it 5/5 stars, but there were a few minor issues. With a hotel of this caliber, everything should be perfect. When I got to my room, the sink was making a very loud gurgling sound. The hotel staff was pretty good about getting the issue fixed, but in this kind of hotel, the room should be carefully inspected for issues before it is assigned to a guest. (Probably the manager should have called to apologize and offered a couple complimentary drinks at the hotel restaurant.) Although the staff did fix the issue pretty quickly, they left dirty fingerprints on the ceiling of the bathroom. Again, not a big deal but again, in a hotel of this caliber, everything should be perfect. Also, my room had a motion detector which made regular chirping noises. As a light sleeper, I had to put a towel over the motion detector to muffle the noise. Another minor issue, but the hotel should spring for silent motion detectors if they feel they need them. I should also note that the rooms are a little on the small side. Since I was there alone, it's not a big deal but if you are a couple or a family I would keep this in mind. As another note, I saw a small lizard in the hallway. It didn't bother me and I'm not going to hold it against this hotel. We don't have lizards running around North Jersey but perhaps it's just a fact of life in Jerusalem. Ok, with the negatives out of the way, I would add that the location of this hotel is amazing, convenient to the Old City of Jerusalem as well as to Jerusalem's main central area. The rooftop restaurant has amazing views, great food, and decent service. (There are some staffing issues at the rooftop restaurant but I can't really hold that against the hotel; it's probably due to the war.) It's hard to go back to my basic shower in New Jersey after the shower in the Mamilla Hotel (I think it's called a rain shower). Most importantly, I had asked for a quiet room and indeed my room was nice and quiet. Amazingly quiet for being in the center of a bustling, growing city. The staff was also very friendly and accommodating. I decided to stay here because my usual place (Abraham Hostel) is still closed. The bottom line is that I can't wait to visit again. I wish I could give this place 5 stars but in any event, my overall impression is very positive.
We have stayed the Mamilla twice. Both stays were great. We reserved via AmEx and had access not only to the full breakfast (which was especially festive on Shabbat) but the lounge which had a very nice array of small sandwiches, salads etc - a great place for a light lunch or snack. The 1st room we had was small but exceptionally clean and nicely appointed. The next time we sprung for a suite and it was spacious and even had a view of the Old City and a neat TV built into the bathroom mirror. Both had these really cool bathroom walls you need to see to appreciate. My wife had massages both times we stayed and they were highlights. The hotel is also extremely well located just a 5 minute walk from the Jaffa Gate via the Mamilla Mall.
Our experience at the Mamilla Hotel was outstanding. Staff members, such as Yatreb, Ido, and Itay, warmly welcomed us and were extremely helpful. The hotel's location is ideal to the Old City's historic, religious, and cultural sites. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The housekeeping service was first rate. The hotel's Fitness Center was spacious and offered lots of options. It was one of the best hotel gyms we have seen. The only issue we encountered was having a front desk staff member arrange for a taxi ride to Tel Aviv upon our checkout on October 26. There was clearly some miscommunication and the taxi driver alleged he was unaware of our Tel Aviv destination and twice attempted to overcharge us. We highly recommend that taxi rides be confirmed clearly before getting into the car. Overall, the Mamilla Hotel receives our strong recommendation!
The Mamilla hotel is in a perfect location, situated between the beautiful old city of Jerusalem, just a 5 minute walk away, and busy west Jerusalem. Start your day with a delicious Israeli breakfast in a lovely setting - we were able to breakfast ouside in November! Huge thanks to all the staff, especially Nijem, our ever attentive waiter at breakfast. An excellent sized pool for a city hotel. We hope to be back.
This hotel is beautiful! It's very comfortable and the location is perfect for tourism, but the service leaves a lot of be desired. The staff was very rude and seemed annoyed the whole time.
