Very nice ambience and very nice food. The place is in a large landed bungalow with adjacent high-roofed hall. Their menu is unique with dishes from all over the Indonesian archipelago. Taste is excellent. We had the sate maranggi, tumis buncis and kalio beef. The service is fantastic. Booked through google maps and was seamless…not always the case. Waiter was friendly, attentive and helpful..explained all the dishes..his name was Ferdy. Last of all we had some unique desserts and the bongko was really tasty. Would recommend especially for tourists
Excellent eve at Kaum Jakarta. Service from Midi was superlative - very attentive and explained all the dishes in detail. Started with the flight of root to fruit cocktails - came with matching fruit. Asked for chef's recommendation and started with Tuna Gohu - very delicate and fresh. Mains were grilled coastal fish, red spinach Bobo - both very delicate, and beef Kalio - spicy and flavoursome. Overall a very nice eve and chance to try out Indonesian food from different parts of the country at an above average standard (60% of customers are foreigners)
Food is good and the portion is good for 3 persons. It’s an Indonesian cooking with a twist. We like the grill fish but every dish has its unique flavour. Satay was tender and peanut sauce was flavourful. Corn pancake was crispy. What we don’t like is that there is smoking section in the restaurant
Food is good. Likewise for the service and ambience. Our favourite dessert is the fermented cassava and coconut ice cream. However, the menu is still quite limited. Love the wide selection of sambal chilli. 🌶️
We were in Jakarta for a short break and were pleasantly surprised by the clean, balanced flavours of the food, especially since a lot of food in the city tend to be MSG-heavy. The menu offers an interesting selection of dishes from different regions of Indonesia, complemented by very good service. That said, we felt some of the dishes had untapped potential. For example, the garang asam soup could have been elevated further to better showcase the richness of its many ingredients. It tasted a little flat, lacking the punch we were hoping for. Perhaps using beef bones as the base could help develop a deeper, more robust flavour and add the beefiness the dish seemed to be missing.
