A cozy place to visit and pray. The staff who work there are very professional and also helpful. They tend to solve your issues quickly. The area is very clean and they also have trashcans all over the corner. The environment is comfy and you'll always feel welcomed there even if you're not a Christian. However, the entry signs still need some work here and there. Perhaps they could make them slightly bigger and in different languages to help accommodate foreign tourists. Overall, it's one of my favorite churches to go to.
I visited Jakarta Cathedral on a Sunday during the Jubilee season and the atmosphere was truly special. Even with many visitors coming and going, the cathedral still felt calm, respectful, and welcoming. The architecture is stunning. The high ceilings, detailed woodwork, and stained glass windows make the space feel both grand and peaceful. It invites you to slow down, observe, and reflect. What I also appreciated was how informative the cathedral is. There are many displays and historical explanations that help visitors understand the history of the Catholic Church in Indonesia, which makes the visit not only spiritual but also educational. Despite being located in the middle of busy Jakarta, the space feels quiet in a comforting way. Silent, but warm. A small personal moment that made the visit even more memorable. After Mass I was honestly very hungry, so I walked around the area to the left of the cathedral and found a small warung nearby. They offer both halal and non halal food, the taste was surprisingly great, and the prices were very affordable. The owner was also friendly, which made the experience feel even more welcoming. Overall, Jakarta Cathedral is not only a beautiful historical landmark but also a place that carries a sense of community and warmth.
Beautiful cathedral worth a visit. No charge or lines to get in. We just went and walked right in. We were able to take pictures inside and out with no problem. It's beautiful.
It's a very peaceful place. It's not crowded if you visit it in the weekdays. There are a lot of tourists visit the place. It's cute that they kept the 2025 Jubilee decorations. Inside the church, you can find the Pope Francis and St. Carlo Acutis statues that were recently added. If you have your own vehicle, there is a spacious parking space, so you do not have to worrt about parking or bringing your own vehicle.
Visited yesterday, 11.5.26, right across from Istiqlal Mosque. The neo-Gothic architecture from 1901 is beautiful, with tall spires, stained glass, and a peaceful courtyard. You can walk in for free when there’s no mass. The interior feels cool and quiet compared to the busy street outside. Small museum on the 2nd floor has interesting history about Catholicism in Indonesia. It’s powerful seeing it stand directly opposite Istiqlal Mosque. Symbol of religious tolerance in Jakarta. Takes 20-30 minutes to explore. Dress modestly. Worth stopping by if you’re already at Monas or Istiqlal.
