This restaurant was amazing! Everything was so nice and tasty, chicken, lamb all had their own great taste. I really enjoyed the lunch in such a central and comfort place, marvellous! The pumping dessert was so nice, (pumpkin is something really hard for me to cook at home) and I was so happy that it handled it so well and delicious. (The toilet was clean, which is another good point!)
This restaurant was established in 1901 and is located on the second floor, just above the bustling main entrance of the Spice Bazaar. Over the years, it has hosted famous figures such as Mustafa Kemal Atatürk (the father of modern Turkey), Queen Elizabeth, and Audrey Hepburn. Inside, the decor is beautiful, with the walls covered in stunning turquoise tiles. Our server was attentive and friendly, and both the salad and lamb shank were good. While it is definitely on the pricier side, I came for the rich history, so it was well worth it.
Mr Cinar took such good care of us- superb table, generous complimentary dessert and wonderful service. The food was delicious and all individually amazing. You can’t go wrong here! Don’t miss the topik, artichoke, lamb sultan and spoon salad.
Didn’t live up to the hype for us. The grape leaves were weirdly sweet and we didn’t even eat the 3. The anchovy pilaf lacked flavor and was not salty enough which is a weird problem for anchovies. The eggplant pie with kebab was fine. With the prices and hype, we would have though better but this was our least favorite deal in Istanbul. We were able to walk in and get seated right away at 12:45 on a Saturday in winter.
We had a table reservation and were promptly seated by the window. The view from the window gives you a little birds eye view of how hectic Istanbul can be, albeit a beautiful view. However, we share the same thoughts as many others on here. Our experience, to say the least, was far from one you'd get from a "Michelin" recommended restaurant. Perhaps its time for an audit within the guide, as this place is far from its former glory days. The food was okay, and the service was far from great. Please take your money elsewhere as there are far better places around Istanbul. Also, to make things worst, the restaurant was near empty during lunch, possibly a sign of the times.
