An absolutely outstanding restaurant! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was wonderful, and the breathtaking sea view made the experience even more special. Everything was perfect — from the service to the overall ambiance. We truly enjoyed every moment here. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great food, beautiful scenery, and an unforgettable dining experience. Definitely worth visiting!
This place is an absolute rip-off. No wonder it only has 3.5 stars. We were charged €116 for what was supposedly 1kg of turbot, yet the fish that arrived at the table was ridiculously small. Even in some of the most exclusive seafood restaurants in London, those prices would be hard to justify. When the final bill came to nearly €200, it honestly felt shocking and deeply disappointing for the quality and portions we received. And on top of all that, they even had the nerve to automatically add a “voluntary” 1000 TL tip to the bill without asking us first. Completely unacceptable and incredibly cheeky. To make matters worse, everyone was smoking at the tables around us, so the whole experience became quite unpleasant — eating the most expensive fish while cigarette smoke is constantly blowing in your face is not exactly enjoyable. Definitely not a place we would return to.
⭐☆☆☆☆ (1 Star) My wife and I went to Tarihi Bebek Balıkçısı after noticing the 20% Amex Platinum discount advertised on their front window. The waterfront view is one of the main reasons anyone would choose this restaurant, and we were excited to enjoy some seafood with a nice view. Unfortunately, we never even got the chance to try the food. When we arrived around 2:15 PM (well past lunch rush), the restaurant had fewer than 10 people inside, yet the staff repeatedly insisted that every single table by the water was “reserved.” No explanation, no effort to accommodate us, and no alternative offered. It felt more like an excuse than the truth. If you’re going to advertise a discount and invite customers in, the least you can do is treat them with basic courtesy and honesty. Instead, we were made to feel unwelcome and brushed off. A restaurant with a great location means nothing if the service is this poor. We left disappointed and frustrated, and we won’t be coming back. Plenty of other places in Istanbul actually appreciate their customers. Save your time and money and go elsewhere.
We were sitting in the middle of the restat then We asked to sit next to the window near the water to have a nice view and enjoy our food since it was empty at the time but they said that the table is reserved and suddenly 4 men came and took the table i asked them if they had a reservation and they said NO! It is really sad to see how they treat tourists Also they encouraged us to have the Grouper and not the Turbot Then we ordered turbot as well and realised turbot was much better and fresher This is very appalling Not nice at all
Picked because it was by the water. I have spent more money for less, but for $467 for two people..... would expect more... between us 3 glasses of wine, and truly, I was thinking it was definitely worth half the money. The service was very good and the food was quite tasty, but you have no idea what it will cost until the end. When they presented the bill for 15000 lira ($467) for two, I was shocked. Although we did eat quite well, certainly not worth that kind of money. Either ask the price of EVERYTHING before you ask for it, or just be aware it's going to be about $200 a person (if not more) for a reasonably good meal. But if you just want to sit by the water and enjoy a good meal, you can do it quite well in other places for half the cost.
