Our family of five tried the Victoria Peak Tram experience during our trip to Hong Kong. Overall, it was still a nice experience, but because we visited during a public holiday, it was extremely crowded and didn’t really feel like we got the full experience. Most of the time it just felt like being in a long crowd of people waiting to get on and off the tram. That said, riding the tram uphill was still a unique and iconic Hong Kong experience. We decided to go back down by bus instead of taking the tram again, and honestly, I think that was the right decision for us. Taking the tram up and the bus down gave us two different experiences, and the bus ride was actually more relaxing and enjoyable. The skyline view at the top is definitely beautiful. However, considering the ticket price and the crowds, I personally don’t think it was as amazing as expected. There are actually several other places in Hong Kong where you can enjoy very similar skyscraper views without spending so much time queuing. One useful tip: I highly recommend buying tickets online in advance. We bought ours through Trip.com and it helped save a lot of time compared to waiting in the ticket line on-site. The mall area at the Peak was also fairly standard and felt similar to many other malls, so there wasn’t really anything particularly special about it. Overall, I would still recommend the Victoria Peak Tram if it’s on your Hong Kong bucket list because it is one of the city’s famous attractions. But in my opinion, there are definitely other places and experiences in Hong Kong that are more exciting and memorable.

Amazing view atop Hongkong. Lots of shop and food options. You can also find souvenir shops and arcade. Would also be an amazing view at night.

Just a beautiful walk away from the Peak Tower, this spot gives you a more relaxed view of the gargantuan city. Perfect for watching the sunset, we stayed here an hour exploring all the viewpoints and fully enjoying the view.

When in Hong Kong….. it’s a must to go up Victoria Peak for the magnificent views over the city and Victoria Bay. There are various ways to get up the Peak be it walk, taxi or the tram. Naturally it’s a personal choice but riding the tram up Victoria Peak is the fun thing to do. Fares are reasonable and based upon where you want access to once at the top. Be prepared to queue in the ticket and boarding line down at the bottom but it does move pretty quickly. The trams are in excellent condition and I believe they hold circa 150 or so people each tram which are made up of double carriages. 5 or so minutes and you are at the top and surrounded by a range of things to do. There are various outdoor spaces and footpath walks but inside there are shops, restaurants and more. Naturally, one of the main reasons people go up here is to go on the observation deck and see the sights of Hong Kong. It was a sunny day for us but incredibly windy when stood in the wrong position. However, that didn’t matter as the panorama was spectacular. Lots of people buzzing around observing the views but it all works seamlessly. Plenty of photo opportunities to be had and even some professional photographers are there if you fancy paying for a special photo shoot. Victoria Peak is an iconic landmark of Hong Kong and I would certainly recommend experiencing a trip up there if you’re in Hong Kong and never done it before. Get Victoria Peak ticked off your Hong Kong list as you won’t be disappointed.

Hong Kong’s monument, dominating on main island 🏝️. You can get there with tram, bus or hike up there in morning trail or old road trail from downtown. You enjoy nature of the Peak, gardens or going around the peak. If you are tired, you take tram or bus to back. There are shops and restaurants in the Tower, tram stop place. You can see the whole city from lookout, distant 15 minutes walk from Tower. When we come back we do Victoria peak mandatory but different way
