Visiting Tian Tan Buddha was one of the highlights of my trip to Hong Kong. The statue is massive and impressive up close, and climbing the 268 steps to the top is challenging but definitely worth it for the views and peaceful atmosphere. Its cold, windy and hot at the same time, make sure to wear sunscreen when your here. There are also some nice gift and souvenir stall inside the statue itself. They sell a variety of items like Buddha statues, prayer beads, keychains, and other small souvenirs that make great keepsakes from the visit. Overall, it’s a beautiful and memorable place to visit a mix of culture, scenery, and a peaceful spiritual atmosphere.

One ☝️of the key features of Lantau Island 🏝️ is the Big Buddha that sits on the very hill top of Lantau, which can be seen 👀 for many, many kilometres ♾️ away on the hiking 🥾trail. Travel – There are many ways to travel up to the Big Buddha from Tung Chung 🗺️. The most convenient would be to take the cable car 🚠 or you can try a bus 🚎or taxi 🚕. Cable cars will have a queue, bus and taxi will take time ⏳but you can have a great view of the island as it drives up towards the top. Note that the bus has a weekend price surge 📈(a lot! 😅) Walking up - To get to the top of The Big Buddha, there is no 🚫 entrance fee (it is FREE 🎉🎊) but you are encouraged 🗣️to donate if you can. After which, you can walk all the way up to the base of the Big Buddha. At the base level, you can walk a full circle 🔄 and take in the surrounding mountain ⛰️view. Walking In – After all the photo taking, you can enter the inside of the Big Buddha via the base behind the main staircase. Inside, along the wall is a columbarium. Among those who are housed there, Anita Mui would be one of the most iconic Hong Kong 🇭🇰celebrities 💃. (🚫 pictures 📸) Inside, you then make your way up to the top 🔝whereby you can view the Tooth Relic of the Buddha. Faith 🪷 has it that if you have a potential relationship with Buddha, you will be able to see the Tooth Relic in different colours 🔴🔵🟡🟢⚫️while the rest of us will see it in just pure white ⚪️. Along the inside walls, you will also find intricate wood 🪵carvings of the deities 🧚‍♀️ and buddha. Letters 📮from officials and construction details. It is an impressive 😎 monument which you can only enjoy if you are fit 💪and are able to climb 🚶‍♀️the stairs to the top. So while you can do it, give it a go and with some blessings 🙏🏼, you will get good 👍weather 🌈 and clear skies 🌅 to enjoy the outing.

Very nice. The steps are not too long. People stop to take pics. We got to the top a little after 5pm and had very nice sunset views. Not too busy at all as the cable car and village close around 6 or 630. Very clean. Inside was not too interesting.

Amazing place! Potentially peaceful, I accidentally went here on Buddha's Birthday so it was quite crowded. Potentially good pictures, but I had a really foggy weather. And had to stend in a line for a bus for 30min. Despite all of that, it is a very beautifull and spiritually powerful place to visit. Strongly recommend taking a bus #23, much cheaper then a cable car plus you get to see gorgeous landscape of the Hong Kong.

A wonderful half-day trip to the Tian Tan Buddha, one of the most peaceful and impressive places to visit in Hong Kong. Surrounded by mountains and nature, the journey itself already feels calming, while the sight of the giant Buddha creates a truly special atmosphere. Climbing the stairs is absolutely worth it for the beautiful views and sense of serenity at the top. A perfect escape from the busy city and a memorable cultural experience.
