Penicillin is easily one of the most memorable cocktail bars I’ve visited in Hong Kong — not just because of the drinks, but because of how creative and immersive the entire experience feels. Hidden along Hollywood Road in Central, the bar blends moody speakeasy vibes with a surprisingly fun “science lab” concept centred around sustainability and zero-waste cocktails. Every drink feels experimental yet balanced, with ingredients you’d never expect to work together somehow coming alive beautifully. I especially loved how the team incorporates fermented, repurposed, and locally sourced ingredients without making the cocktails feel gimmicky. The atmosphere is intimate, energetic, and perfect for a night out in Central, though it can get quite packed later in the evening. Service was excellent too — the bartenders genuinely enjoy explaining the stories behind the drinks. I absolutely recommend it for cocktail lovers looking for something unique in Hong Kong.
Well-crafted, very experimental cocktails! Don’t forget to order the Koji Fried Chicken! It’s so tender, tasty and addictive.
the waiters were so attentive!! props to them making the atmosphere so enjoyable and fun. amazing cocktails to enjoy as well. will definitely be going again next time 🤍
Haha, I’m such a Penicillin fan that I went to this bar just for the name! Turns out, it’s actually one of Asia’s Top 50 Bars, and it definitely lived up to the hype. The cocktail I had was refreshing and lovely. The bartender took the time to ask about my preferences and recommended something that suited me perfectly. I sat at the bar, and watching the cocktail-making process up close was such a cool experience. Great vibe, great drinks, definitely worth a visit if you’re into cocktails!
We went to a lot of cocktail bars on our Hong Kong trip, but this was easily the best. Complex, world class mixology with no pretentiousness at all. Friendly staff and a great vibe.
