This museum is a solid place to learn more about the city’s past and culture. The exhibits are detailed and well laid out, covering everything from early history and traditional life to more modern developments in Hong Kong. I visited on a school day, and there were a lot of students around, so some areas felt a bit busy and noisy at times. Still, the displays were informative and easy to follow, with plenty of visuals and explanations.

I was hoping to get an overview of different aspects of Hong Kong history here, but unfortunately the scope of the museum was pretty limited. The topics of the current exhibits include: national security (focused on the 2019-2020 protests with a heavy dose of "one country two systems" propaganda), the history of Yau Tsim Mong district, Portuguese in HK, and migration of Chinese to the US via HK. I enjoyed my visit here and learned a lot. All of the exhibits were interesting and well-designed, but I don't feel like I understand the city of Hong Kong as a whole any better after this visit.

They have a wonderful HK history exhibition there now. Must visit for local and tourists. Very interesting, you will definitely learn something new. Lot of old maps , interesting to research.

I went TWICE because I couldn't complete the exhibitions in the limited time I have. BUT ITS FREE! I was deeply entranced by "Hong Kong story " exhibition. Anyone visiting HK and is interested in learning the history, pls do visit this!! And give yourself 3-4 hours!! Its WORTH IT! 😍
