As a local, I always discoving the restaurant that I would like to recommended and share with friends. Chi Lin Vegetarian is definitely on my list. The environment is unbratable and cozy. I can slowdown myself to enjoy the food. The offering sets for different numbers of people, I ordered the sets for 4 and added something. It's enough for 5 people if you are not starving. The price is a bit pricey but worth to try it. If you want to stay away from meat and fill your stomach with veggies.
We ordered deep fried bean curd sheet rolls with mushroom seaweed, braised yellow porcini and tofu casserole, and Sichuan fried rice. The rice was the best, and the other two dishes were good but not great. But the prices here are outrageous for what you receive. These three dishes came to $506HKD. When we got inside the restaurant, the lady at the desk saw our reservation ticket, then made like we should go find the table ourselves. Worse than that, the servers we had were kind, but they all run around like chickens with no heads. This should be a place for serenity, and it is not. We will not return. The nunnery is worth a visit, but this restaurant is not worth your time or your money.
A very peaceful and special place, located right next to the monastery. The food was delicious — I especially loved the mushroom and tofu dish, full of flavor and very comforting. I also tried one of their desserts, which was simple and lovely. Even though there was a bit of a language barrier, the staff were still very caring and attentive, which I really appreciated. It felt like a calm, mindful experience — not just a meal, but a moment to slow down.
As tourists to HK, we discovered this restaurant by accident while walking through the Nan Lian garden at night. We noticed the restaurant hidden behind the waterfall and decided to try it. Coincidentally, we were vegetarians and this restaurant is all vegetarian. The food was cooked fresh, delicious, and very tasty. We tried: - the baked beancurd with enoki mushroom and water bamboo - Braised beancurd patty filled with enoki mushrooms - Spinach topped with cordyceps mushroom - Spring rolls with shimeji mushroom and cheese - Teriyaki sauce noodles Of these, the beancurd patty bag filled with mushrooms was the most delicious. All other dishes were excellent too. Though we ordered too much for two people, we were able to finish everything because it was all tasty and relatively light. Though the waitress could not speak english well, she did her best to give us pointers. The ambiance was cozy with yellow lighting and the backdrop of the waterfall just outside the window. I would recommend this place especially for vegetarians.
Body and soul nourished by real vegetarian cuisine - 4 of us enjoyed the banquet for 2 plus an additional turnip cake à la carte order recommended by the manager. An enjoyable and cleansing experience from the inside out. Highly recommended.
