The Vietnam Museum of Ethnology is a truly beautiful and well-curated space that offers a deep dive into the country's diverse cultures. The outdoor exhibition with the traditional houses is especially impressive and provides a very authentic feel to the experience. Just keep in mind that the site is quite large, so you should definitely set aside at least 3 to 4 hours to see everything properly. It is very educational and well-organized, making it one of the best museums in Hanoi for both adults and families. The blend of indoor artifacts and large-scale outdoor structures creates a great variety that keeps the visit interesting. It is a must-visit for anyone wanting to understand the rich heritage of Vietnam’s ethnic groups. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes as there is a fair amount of walking involved across the grounds.

What an incredible museum. The main building is very informative, showing detailed information on different ethnologies across Vietnam. The kite building is an incredible piece of architecture with super interesting exhibits. But the central point of the museum are the indigenous buildings. We spent around 3.5 hours there. For 40k VND (around 1.30€) per person, you can't beat it anywhere.

Visited Vietnam Museum of Ethnology on Wednesday and found it very interesting. There were some foreign tourists, but most visitors were local students on school trips. The museum has 2 floors with air conditioning and an easy circular walking route. Inside, there are displays about Vietnam’s ethnic groups, migration history from the north, central, and south regions, traditional clothing, architecture, and models showing how different tribes lived in the past. The entrance fee was around 40,000 VND per person. It’s a nice place for a relaxing afternoon while learning about Vietnamese culture and history. We spent around 1–2 hours here.

The Vietnamese Museum of Ethnology is a great stop if you are in Hanoi and want something a bit broader than the usual temple-and-old-quarter circuit. What makes it especially interesting is that it gives you a much better sense of the different ethnic groups across Vietnam and the variety of cultures, traditions, and ways of life within the country. Inside the museum, there is a lot of useful and engaging information about Vietnam’s different ethnic communities. Outside is what really makes the visit stand out: you can walk around and see traditional buildings and houses from different regions of Vietnam, which gives the whole place a much more immersive feel. One practical warning: there are a lot of mosquitoes, especially around the outdoor area, so definitely wear repellent/DEET if you are going. Overall, a really worthwhile visit and a great addition to a Hanoi itinerary if you want something cultural, informative, and a little different

A lot to learn about Vietnamese history and culture at this place. Totally recommend getting yourself a guide and saving a lot of time reading stuff around. Some really interesting things to learn and feed your curiosity. Especially for me, it was the outdoor things which showcased different types of houses and huts built for different communities that reside in Vietnam.
