I came here with pretty high expectations because Pho Thin is famous as one of the original pho spots in Hanoi, but unfortunately it didn’t live up to the hype for me. I will say the pho looked amazing when it arrived. Visually it was very appealing and definitely gave the impression of a rich, flavourful bowl. However, the taste didn’t match the presentation. The broth was on the bland side and lacked the rich, balanced depth of flavour I was expecting from such an iconic place. I kept waiting for that strong beefy aroma and savoury finish, but it never really came through. The beef itself was quite chewy, and the menu felt very limited with basically only one meat option available. I understand they specialise in a particular style of pho, but it still would have been nice to have more variety or flexibility. The restaurant definitely has history and a busy local atmosphere, which some people may appreciate, but purely based on taste, it was pretty underwhelming overall considering the reputation.

Normally I eat Pho in HCM much. But this is the best Pho ever... taste of soup is deep, meat is well cooked, noodle is enough. It makes me so happy. I enjoyed great meal in here with my friends. I recommend this place to you.

Couldn’t sleep and was up at 5am thinking what I could do to kill some time. I wondered if any places were open for breakfast. Amazingly there were a handful of Pho places that all open at 5am (or were 24/7) within walking distance. So what a pleasant surprise to stumble upon this place! The owner/manager/chef was nice enough and told me to have. Seat. They brought a bowl of beef pho stuffed to the brim with beef, herbs, and noodles. I was the first customer but it quickly filled up with locals. Who knew this place would be so popular so early! While eating I looked up the restaurant on Google Maps and apparently the place is famous because of some YouTuber or food review show. It lives up to the hype. The broth is different than a lot of the places near by. The other thing I appreciated is beef wasn’t too over cooked like many of the other places here.

If you enjoy beef with a firm, slightly chewy texture, you’ll probably like this “legendary” pho. Otherwise, you may want to skip it. They serve only phở bò tái lăn here – thin rice noodles in a clear, rich broth, topped with quickly stir-fried slices of rare beef with garlic (tái lăn), leaving the meat partially cooked. We paid 90,000 VND, plus 10,000 VND for the quẩy, a long fried dough stick that is crispy on the outside and airy inside, meant for dipping into the broth. About $4 USD in total. The place is crowded, simple and very street-style, like a true local food stall, including hygiene that is, to put it mildly, quite poor.

Really delicious Pho with the special characteristic that the beef is first stir-fried in a very hot wok before being added to the soup - and you can absolutely taste the difference 😊🍲 The broth becomes much deeper, richer and more intense, almost more like a proper powerful beef stock with a slight smoky wok character instead of the lighter and cleaner style many traditional Pho places are known for. We think opinions probably differ a little here depending on what people personally expect from Pho. Some may prefer the more delicate style where every individual component stands on its own, while this version is definitely more of an umami bomb 😄 For us however, this special style was genuinely very enjoyable and memorable. We absolutely appreciated this unique approach and would happily come back again. Service was also friendly - very typical warm Hanoi atmosphere 😊
