Acclaimed eatery serving traditional noodles & grilled meat plates in a calm, no-frills space.via Google

Famous for hosting a US President, this multi-level joint still serves exceptionally balanced, smoky grilled pork in a sweet-savory broth.

Signature
Bun Cha (grilled pork with rice noodles and fresh herbs)

Grew up watching Bourdain, and couldn't leave Vietnam without making the pilgrimage. Food was average. Felt that the meat missed any char flavour. nước mắm was pretty good in the Bun Cha. Definitely on the sweeter side. Good variety of greens provided. Restaurant was nice for the memory, but food wasn't striking.

Taste: 3.8/5.0 Price: 3.9/5.0 Service: 2.9/5.0 Recommendation: Yes Would I visit again? Yes This is a place that serves common Vietnamese dishes. The grilled ribs with a smoky flavor and the noodles were especially delicious. Other restaurants sell similar dishes, but this one tasted better. From a foreign traveler’s perspective, Hanoi can feel a bit expensive, but overall the prices here seemed reasonable for the quality.

This feels like a locals place despite that it was full with tourists when we went. We had Bún Chā, Peanut & dried Beef Salad and Braised Beef Spring Roll wraps. including 2 Beers each it only cost £15 for all that food and drink for two of us, great value and good food. It was my first Bún Chă and I was not disappointed and as yet haven't had better. The owner was telling us how he went on to make a business for him and his extended family from his beginnings as a street kid begging which is nice to see a success story. Would recommend and would return.

Came here for lunch and don't regret it. It seems like nothing special and it is bigger than I thought. There are totally four floors for sitting. Everything is simple, you find a table, order your food and pay on the way out. It is popular and crowded. All the dishes we ordered were delicious. President Obama had eaten here and that's why it is so well known. They even have a set meal called the Obama Combo.

Visited Bún Chả Hương Liên (aka “Bun Cha Obama”) mostly out of curiosity. The place has a fun, touristy atmosphere, and it’s interesting to see the preserved table where Barack Obama dined—feels a bit like a mini attraction inside a local eatery. The bun cha is good: flavorful grilled pork, a slightly sweet and tangy dipping sauce, fresh herbs, and soft rice noodles. Everything is well-prepared and comes out quickly, but it doesn’t quite stand out compared to other spots in Hanoi that feel more local and less hyped. Overall, it’s worth stopping by once for the experience and the story behind it, but if you’re chasing the best bun cha in Hanoi, you’ll likely find better elsewhere.
