My MVP (favourite spot) of my Hanoi trip overall. This restaurant is famous for their fried spring roll. However, I was falling in love for their braised pork rice noodle (Bun Cha), the soup is so refreshing yet sweet, and you can even ask the owner to adjust the soup taste, it matches really good with the vegetables especially mint leaves. So suitable to have this as lunch/ dinner uring a hot weather.
I recently visited Bún Chả Đắc Kim and it absolutely lived up to the hype! I ordered the Bún Chả and Bún Nem Chay, and both dishes were excellent. The Bún Chả was flavorful and perfectly balanced — the grilled pork was smoky, tender, and well-seasoned, paired beautifully with the dipping sauce and fresh herbs. Every bite felt authentic and satisfying. The Bún Nem Chay was just as impressive. The vegetarian spring rolls were crispy on the outside and packed with delicious filling inside. It was a great option that didn’t compromise on taste at all. The atmosphere felt lively and local, adding to the overall experience. If you’re in Hanoi and craving authentic Vietnamese cuisine, this spot is definitely worth a visit!
Taste - 9/10 The bun cha was flavorful and tasted very authentic Hanoi-style. The grilled pork was smoky and well-seasoned, while the spring rolls were also crispy and delicious with the noodles. • Serving Size- 9/10 The serving size was big and very filling. Good value for the price, especially if you are hungry after walking around Hanoi. • Service - 7/10 Service was quite slow during peak hours because the place gets very busy. Staff seemed overwhelmed at times due to the number of customers. Took us more than 5 minutes before they gave ua the menu lol • Space / Ambiance - 7/10 The restaurant space is small and can feel cramped when crowded. Tables are close to each other, so it may not feel very relaxing during busy hours. • Cleanliness - 8/10 Cleanliness was acceptable overall, although the dining area can quickly become messy because of the heavy crowd. • Price - 120,000 VND and worth it for an authentic local food experience in Hanoi. • Overall Experience - 8/10 A good spot to try authentic bun cha in Hanoi with generous servings and flavorful food. Just expect a crowded environment and slower service during busy hours
This is not a high end restaurant but you will definitely get value for money and good Vietnamese food! I have shared the menu with prices for your reference. We ordered Apricot Juice, Bun Cha and Bu Nem Cua Be. The Crab Sprill Roll is really good.
Bún Chả Đắc Kim is one of Hanoi’s most famous spots for the city’s signature dish, and it certainly lives up to its reputation in many ways. Located in the heart of the Old Quarter, the restaurant is always busy, with the smoky aroma of grilled pork filling the narrow street outside — an unmistakable sign you’ve arrived at the right place. The bún chả here comes grilled pork — both meatballs and thin slices — cooked over charcoal for that rich, smoky flavor. The dipping sauce is slightly sweet and tangy, balancing with the savory grilled meat and fresh herbs and green papaya adds freshness. Good try.
