Grand 1500s royal monastery with a lavishly decorated Renaissance interior & 2-tiered cloisters.via Google

A stunning Renaissance monastery featuring a grand cloister planted with orange trees and an incredibly ornate church interior.

Good to know
Entry is €; quiet and far less crowded than the Cathedral. Allow 1 hour.

Oh this monastery is beautiful with two cloisters with orange trees and lemon tree in courtyard. This monastery tells a lot about the life inside which is intriguing to us The architecture inside is beautiful and takes you back. But the cathedral will make you speechless. The beauty can’t be expressed in words. The piously beauty is to be felt by ofcourse sitting there quietly and just feel it. I wish they had group tours with a guide for people like us who knows literally nothing about the churches. Glass work on the ceiling or the altar piece were marvels of creation and vision. I was awestruck by just entering the church. Must visit monastery

You can get this combo'ed with the cathedral and royal chapel. The church has some cool ceilings but you don't really see much of an actual monastery.

Definitely recommend visiting it if you have time in Granada. It's magnificent, especially the church inside which for me is even better than Granada's cathedral.

An impressive structure. Full with relics, paintings and statues. It was disappointing that it looks rundown. Having such cultural, historical and religious richness deserves pristine restoration. I hope on my next visit it will look better cared for.

We have visited late in the afternoon, no que and easy to pay the ticket by card - one hour is enough to see the place and listen to each point of the audioguide.
