The bread is baked fresh right out of the oven incredibly fluffy on the inside, perfectly crispy on the outside, and it smells absolutely amazing! They have over a dozen different delicious fillings to choose from, every single one packed with amazing flavour. This place is absolutely legendary and super popular, it’s always packed with people. The only downside? You might have to wait in line for an entire hour. But trust me, every single minute of the wait is 100% worth it. 10/10, would queue all over again!

Nice sandwiches (crispy/crunchy flat bread) with so many filling choices. Loved anything with prosciutto. Took our sandwiches to the river for a nicer environment/enjoyment rather than sitting on the pavement on the side of the road. Very busy with long queues but they are super efficient and the line moves.

All’Antico Vinaio is definitely super hyped, and you can feel it as soon as you arrive. They have three stores right next to each other, each with its own line, all selling the same famous sandwiches. Even with the crowds, the sandwiches were genuinely great. We tried the vegetarian, caprese, and a custom vegetarian sandwich, and yes, they do allow customizations. They also offer beer, wine, and soft drinks. Each store has a few bar stools for around 8 people, but it is almost always busy, so expect more of a quick, casual experience than a relaxed sit-down meal. Overall, it is worth trying if you are in Florence and don’t mind waiting in line.

Apparently one of Florence's main food attractions while you visit the center. Indeed the line was quite long and impressive, but so was also the organization and effectiveness. Before we stood more than 5 minutes, one of stuff approached us, asking how many we are (2) and immediately took us to another, much smaller line at one of the next sections. We even managed to find a bar table to sit and dine the truly fantastic, special sandwich, right there. What a nice and deliciously tasty experience. It truly seemed as even the people who actually prepare it for you per your individual ordering, are having lots of fun doing it.

Visited in May 2026 Our first experience with the sandwich at Rome’s Central Train Station branch was not as impressive as expected. The sandwich felt a little under-filled and was mostly bread, so it did not fully reflect the reputation we had heard about. However, we decided to give it another try at one of the city-center branches, and that turned out to be the right decision. The same sandwich we had tried earlier was completely different the second time, it the latter one was more balanced, richer in ingredients, and far more enjoyable. Based on this second experience, I would rate it a solid 4 out of 5 for now, while hoping that the same high standard can be maintained consistently across all branches and visits. For note, this time we ordered “doubling the fillings” at our own expenses, to ensure elevating the overall taste. My regards to the active and welcoming team, who listened to our comments and earlier experience, answered our questions, and willingly delivered the excellent taste they promised. We will certainly try it again during future visits to Rome or Florence, to see if this improved experience remains consistent. Thanks to the owner and the team, and we look forward to seeing this level of excellence sustained.
