Really really cool place to visit. I think everyone knows about the statue of David and this was built to house it. We bought our tickets in advance because they sell out weeks ahead of time, it is recommended you do too or you might be waiting in line for a while. Our favorite parts (apart from the 5 meter tall statue) were the unfinished carvings of marble leading up to David and all the "room of plaster." Lots of Art from the 14th and 15th centuries to appreciate throughout the Galleria and don't skip the instrument museum. It is just off the first wing when you enter and they have some of the earliest instruments that were invented.
Amazing painting where literally the colors pop off the pairing. Michelangelo’s David was much bigger than I thought it would be.To look at painting that were painted in the 1400s and later is well worth any wait! An amazing visit.
Visited in early February and crowds were sparse around lunch hours. Truly a joy to finally see the Statue of David. Skip the extra fee for the audio guide as their are QR codes near many of the pieces to enable audio guide via smart phone.
Such a fantastic museum! It's got sculptures, old musical instruments, and so much art. We loved our time here. The statue of David is currently held here as well. What an incredible piece of work. I highly recommend you view this spot, it's incredible. Buy your tickets in advance too, it'll make going through the line a lot faster.
Wonderful gallery that showed off David under natural light which made the statue seem to change as clouds passed in front of the Sun; The Rape of the Sabine Woman and its serpentine rendering inviting one to view it from all angles; call of marble where one could see the process in which a plaster rendering was then used to create a sculpture marble; The works of oil on canvas and board glorifying the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit, the angels, and the Virgin What I really enjoyed was the size. It was large enough that one could spend a whole day but really be able to enjoy it in just an hour
