Timberyard – An Unforgettable We snagged a last-minute table late in the evening, expecting a quick bite instead of dinner – what we got was hands-down one of the best dining experiences of our lives. We went for the 4-course tasting menu paired with the wine package. The opening cocktails were masterful reimaginings of classic recipes – truly inventive, perfectly balanced, and executed with real skill. The menu itself was outstanding: thoughtful, seasonal, ingredient-driven dishes that let the produce shine while delivering bold, satisfying flavours. Even as someone who’s not usually a fan of natural wines, the wine pairing worked beautifully – well-chosen, complementary, and never overpowering. We extended the evening with a cheese course and perfectly matched drinks to finish – a lovely touch that rounded everything off perfectly. The service was exceptional – warm, knowledgeable, attentive without being intrusive. This level of hospitality deserves more than one star; it’s genuinely world-class. Timberyard already holds one Michelin star (and rightfully so), but if the inspectors are listening: the overall experience here is easily two-star territory. The combination of style, genuine relaxed authenticity, technical precision, and top-tier quality makes it feel like world-class fine dining. Yes, it’s pricey – but for this level of execution, atmosphere, and sheer enjoyment, it’s absolutely worth every penny. A must-visit in Edinburgh. Highly, highly recommended!

As soon as you enter TIMBERYARD, the experience had commenced. This well renowned Michelin starred restaurant on Lady Lawson in Edinburgh is spectacular. The service was perfect. Respectful. Professional. Engaging. The space was ultra hip. Wooden roof slats. Wide open minimal space. Clean lighting. And the tasting menu was extraordinary. Mind boggling. Flavors and ingredients that are pushing the boundaries of traditional flavors one experiences. I cannot say enough! 5 x 🍲🍲🍲🍲🍲

Overall a fun and delicious experience made even more special by Holly. You had us at pickle plate. And when Holly found out we were such big fans that hadn’t been successful in our hunt for pickles throughout Scotland, she brought out even more! The cultivated mushrooms were delicious, but the Roe buck & Jack by the hedge was far and away my favorite tasting in the menu. Especially the “tea” that preceded it. Incredibly flavorful, rich, and complex. Again, a big thank you to Holly for making the evening special for us, for the recommendations to other Edinburgh experiences, the laughs, and for the “fish and chips” recommendations.

One star Michelin resturant, located in old Edinburg. The location is very suggestive, warm and caratheristic. We tried 2 full tasting menu, 1 with vegetarian courses. Primary ingredients were excellent, some peculiar combination like the dessert but the food was very good at all. The vegetarian option was great. Maybe the full menu is overfill, because at the end you are very full and don’t have any space left for the last courses. The staff was friendly and kind. The bill was a little bit too high for a menu without wine.

Having visited in the past and absolutely loved it, I decided to return a few years later. This time, I left with mixed feelings. I found almost all the courses to lean on the sour side — some worked for me, others didn’t. On the positive side, the wines were fantastic, the cocktails excellent, the service impeccable, and the décor and ambience truly beautiful. Even the toilets were a “wow” moment — I loved the background sounds. The presentation of the dishes was certainly memorable too; one even came with actual pigeon wings, which was a bit shocking. Overall, it’s definitely worth visiting, but I wouldn’t place it at the top of Edinburgh’s Michelin‑listed restaurants.
