Stayed here in the fall and everything about this hotel was fantastic. Great location- early walkable to most places- walked the royal Mile, up to Arthur's seat. The rooms themselves were lovely- had a room overlooking the city. The heated bathroom floors and towel warmer are a nice touch. Had breakfast downstairs daily and it was also great. Lastly, recommend stopping into the whiskey bar on site- very cool history and knowledgeable staff who made great recs on drinks.

We had a very good experience at The Balmoral. I was surprised by the small size of the bathoom; however, our overall stay was pleasant. The room was tastefully decorated and clean. The service could have been better, particularly with the absence of a toothbrush and limited drinking water supplies, along with a somewhat unusual interaction with one of the receptionists. Nevertheless, the friendliness of the other staff, especially during breakfast, and the eagerness of the concierge to assist us were impressive. The location is absolutely fantastic—truly the best in Edinburgh, especially for first-time visitors and those on a short stay.

My wife and I had the best time during our stay at the Balmoral. Our room was nicer then we expected and the view was equally impressive. We had a bigger room but it had a coziness to it that we liked. I also have to comment on the bathroom. It was nice and roomy, but having an almost life size picture of Sean Connery in it, set it to a higher level of cool. The staff were friendly and outgoing and they had an ease about them when talking to us. I felt like I was chatting with a friend. We had room service for one of the evenings there. The food was delivered quickly by a friendly staff member and she set up the table for dining. Again, friendly and easy to talk to. The dinner was very well prepared and was delicious. We took advantage of the morning buffet which had everything I was looking for.....including haggis!! We're from Chicago and you'll never find haggis at a restaurant there. Anyway....when we return for another visit to Edinburgh, it's The Balmoral for us. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.

Had a lovely birthday treat from my beautiful daughter to a tasty lunch, a spa day with an hour full body massage. Polite, professional, knowledgeable and friendly staff at the same time, from start to finish. Well done and thanks very much for the service.

We didn't actually stay at three hotel but we did eat at the Grill. Staff are amazing, set lunch is amazing value (2 or 3 courses). You can see why thid place was one of the favourites for the late Queen's mother. Tip. If the hotel is quiet in the off season and you cannot afford the room. Ask if you can do a walk-in breakfast buffet. You will feel like royalty with out breaking the bank
