⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “Surgeons’ Hall Museums is a fascinating and unique attraction in Edinburgh. The exhibits are well presented and offer an incredible insight into the history of medicine, surgery, and anatomy. The collection is both educational and thought-provoking, with plenty of interesting artifacts and stories. A must-visit for anyone interested in medical history or looking for something different to explore in the city.”

Interesting museum in Edinburgh following the history of surgery from earliest efforts to modern day robotics. A smaller museum, it is broken up into a number of areas with displays of instruments and procedures, historical perspective, and some interactive exhibits. The wife really enjoyed the forensic area and the preserved specimens. My favorite was the robotic surgery machine and the fact that you could use it. Well worth the admission is you even have a passing interest in medicine or surgery.

Hands down the most fascinating museum in Edinburgh. I cannot express enough how amazing and interesting this museum is to the curious mind. One of the best parts was the Blood and Guts walking tour with Jerry (that’s Jerry with a J). He was an incredible guide, was funny, and showed a lot of areas and history of Edinburgh that breathed life into the museum’s subject matter. Well worth a visit and don’t miss the tour!

If you are planning a trip to Edinburgh for a university group, the Surgeons' Hall Museums is unforgettable. I recently took a group of 22 students, and the experience exceeded every expectation we had. The standout of our visit was the hands-on suturing workshop led by the education manager, Carl. I cannot praise him enough, Carl’s depth of knowledge is incredible, but it’s his delivery that makes the difference. He managed to keep a large group of 22 students completely engaged, blending technical skill with professional insight. He made the entire experience seamless and accessible, and the students left feeling like they’d gained a genuine new skill. The museum itself is a "weird and wonderful" treasure trove. It houses a mind-blowing array of exhibits that range from historical surgical instruments to fascinating (and occasionally macabre) anatomical specimens. There is something to catch everyone’s eye, whether they are interested in pathology, history, or the evolution of surgery. My students loved every second of it. The displays are curated in a way that sparks conversation—it’s definitely not your typical "quiet and dusty" museum experience. If you are looking for an educational trip that balances high-level learning with genuine "wow" factor, this is it. A massive thank you to Carl and the team for making our visit so memorable. We will definitely be back!

I really enjoyed our visit to the Surgeons Hall Museum. The exhibits and information were fascinating and how it connects to the history of Edinburgh even more so. Not every member of our group had the stomach for it - organs in jars is not appealing to everyone. As someone with a science degree, I found every piece fascinating. Our visit was quicker than I would have liked, as it was a hot day and there was not any cooling inside, so we were done in under an hour. But on a cooler day I would have explored more. The staff were really kind and welcoming.
