I heard about Oink on the Netflix show, Somebody Feed Phil, and immediately added it to my research for our trip. We stopped by for lunch one day and we each enjoyed a delicious sammich. The sammiches come on a big, soft, delicious roll. And they’re filled with a generous portion of pulled pork. You get to customize them a little bit by selecting your bread, the size of the sammich, the stuffing (sage and onion or the homemade haggis), and a variety of spreads (apple, homemade mustard mayo, homemade chili cheese, and homemade chili jam). My wife got the sage & onion, and I opted for a haggis filling. We both very much enjoyed our rolls. They were very filling, and the staff was very friendly and helpful with suggestions. The haggis was unique, but we are very familiar with pulled pork sammiches back home. We really enjoyed our meal and would definitely recommend Oink to any hungry travelers in Edinburgh.
So good I almost forgot to take a picture, however I ate two sandwiches so there’s your clue, this was delicious. The staff is nice and quickly and we were lucky enough to have a sitting but even if there is not enough space to be seated I’d recommend it to take away trust me you’ll be licking your fingers. Also a good choice if you are traveling with limited time and want to grab something easy, fast and good to eat.
I’m glad this spot is always super busy and successful but from a customer perspective the space is too small and limited and the overcrowding isn’t a fun experience. The food was good but didn’t blow me away / live up to the hype. My fave component was the sweet / spicy sauce
We had heard about this place from Phil Rosenthal’s Netflix show so as we walked back to our hotel from Holyroodhouse Palace we saw it and felt compelled to try it! We are so glad we did. The pulled pork was cooked to perfection and though we ordered a small one - it was generously filled with pulled pork! It was delicious! And make sure to get some of their homemade shortbread. It’s sneaky yummy!!
You must add this place to your list to come visit. Honestly after spending the morning or day walking lots, this hits the spot. They’re very generous with the meat in the bun, but you have the option of choosing small medium or large. I’d definitely come here again.
