This is a very popular restaurant. We arrived early but are lucky to get a table though. The receptionist was very pleasant and showed us to the table. Both of us ordered fish - salmon and catch of the day is cod. The 2 fishes are cooked perfectly keeping the fish tender while skin was crispy. The condiment and presentation for the catch of the day complemented the cod and enhanced the overall taste and dining experience. Highly recommend this restaurant and advance booking is recommended.
Amazing experience even in solo. The place is quiet, beatiful and cosy. The service was efficient, nice and carying. And what about the food… The beaf cheek was delicious, melted in the mouth! Great list of whiskies. Don’t forget to reserve+++
We had a wonderful dining experience at Howies Scottish Restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious — fresh, beautifully presented, and full of authentic Scottish flavor. Every dish we tried was cooked perfectly and served hot. The service made our visit even better. Our waitress was warm, friendly, and very attentive, making sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. She gave great recommendations and made us feel truly welcome from start to finish. The atmosphere was cozy and relaxed — a perfect place to enjoy a meal with family. We left very satisfied and will definitely be coming back! Highly recommended to anyone visiting Edinburgh and looking for genuine Scottish hospitality and great food.
Very pleasant experience. Venison was well flavoured, slightly tough towards the end. Cod was done well, paired with sauce and condiments to really brings out the taste. We had tasty cocktail and the signature dessert. Server Jose was super professional, very friendly and patient with us. He added the most to our experience here. Would always recommend folks to Howies.
One of the better Scottish restaurants we have tried in Edinburgh so far. Reservations is required as it is usually packed. The haggies was great and I had the venison which is one of the best I've tried so far. The other dishes which my guests tried was also decent. Service is a little slow though due to the crowd and maybe staff shortage in the kitchen. We were not affected but the table next to us waited for a long time for their mains even though they came earlier.
