I am normally not one to write reviews, but after two recent check-ins at the Merrion, I felt compelled to do so. If you are seeking a classic European luxury hotel experience, the Merrion is truly top of class and can stand alongside the great luxury hotels of Paris, London, Rome, and Madrid. The rooms are classic yet meticulously maintained. As someone fortunate enough to have stayed at a large number of luxury hotels, I always notice when a property manages to stay true to its past while thoughtfully incorporating the present. Perhaps no hotel I have visited has done this better than the Merrion. All the conveniences of modern life are there, but they never scream for attention. You feel both in the past and in the present at the same time. The art collection is lovely, there is not a scuff to be found, and it is clear how much care goes into maintaining the property. What truly sets the Merrion apart, however, is the staff. Everyone—from the chambermaids and porters to the front desk, spa team, and, of course, management—is genuinely interested in providing a world-class experience. No detail is overlooked, and the result is service that is gracious, authentic, and effortlessly Irish. The dining is excellent, the Garden Room is lovely, and Bar No. 23 is the quintessential hotel bar. While Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud is not operated by the hotel, it is undoubtedly world-class and a perfect complement to the overall experience. I am already plotting my return in late 2027 or spring 2028, and I know that I will be welcomed back with those warm, genuine smiles and the fabulous Irish hospitality that makes this place so special. Cheers to the Merrion, a truly exceptional luxury city hotel. In a world where many luxury properties seem determined to chase trends, the Merrion remains confident in what it is—and is all the better for it. I am already looking forward to coming back.
My stay at The Merrion Hotel was nothing short of exceptional, truly a benchmark for elegance and hospitality. From the moment I arrived to the time I checked out, the staff were absolutely amazing. Their warmth, attentiveness, and genuine care made a lasting impression on me. It’s rare to encounter such consistently outstanding service, and I was genuinely blown away by the entire team. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a complimentary room upgrade, along with a bottle of champagne and a beautifully written card waiting in my room. This thoughtful gesture was incredibly kind and deeply appreciated. The hotel itself lives up to every expectation of luxury and sophistication, elegance at its best. The tea and dining areas are exquisitely designed, offering a refined yet comfortable atmosphere that invites you to relax and indulge. Every detail feels carefully curated.
Great stay at the Merrion with beautiful rooms and romantic atmosphere. However, given the high nightly rate, it was disappointing to encounter different tiers of breakfast options (continental, Irish breakfast, and à la carte) rather than a fully inclusive offering. At a hotel of this calibre, breakfast typically feels generous and seamless, without distinctions or supplements. Additionally, the turndown service did not include a sweet treat or chocolate, something we have consistently experienced at other similar five-star hotels around the world. While our stay was excellent overall, a few thoughtful touches like these would better align the experience with the hotel’s premium positioning.
I really had a great time checking this place out! The whole area is super well-maintained and has a really nice vibe to it. It’s a perfect spot if you're looking for somewhere to grab food with a big team. We loved that there were so many different options to choose from. You definitely have to try the cocktails because they were mixed perfectly. We also grabbed some desserts at the end, and they were honestly the best part of the night.
Very nice hotel, personnel very polite, located in the city center. I ate twice at the hotel restaurant and enjoyed the vegan options of the chef, both at dinner and breakfast, really good tasting. I recommend the restaurant and encourage the chef to add also another vegan option to the menu.
