Dined here on a recent trip to Dublin, on Setanta Place. Creatively composed menu, backed up by excellent dishes and fresh ingredients. Incredibly creative and brave. The setting is minimalist, understated and relaxed, yet refined. Courses, combinations and balance of each plate were consistently excellent and beautifully presented. Serious dining spot. Minor subjective detail - glassware and flatware could be upped to meet the excellence of the cuisine. Moments of rustic sophistication and refinement. Marinated turbo head was insane.Great cocktails and extremely attentive and gracious staff. Overall, a rich and wonderful experience that I will remember for a long time. Highly recommended.
Good spot to try a preset menu with wine pairing. The service was nice and atmosphere is chill and noninvasive. The food however left a dual impression. Some pre courses were amazing - flavourful and balanced, but some other ones were not as nuanced and rich. Same goes for main courses and deserts: some dishes were excellent, while other ones were less interesting and lacked the “oompf”. And again, same story with wine tasting: some wines complemented the dishes well, while other ones were just wines. Given how much the pairing costs, I was hoping for better quality and experience. And also, maybe it’s a me problem, but 5 glasses of wine is a lot!😅
Fantastic! From the service to the seasonal dishes, one of the highlights of my dining experience in Dublin. The team are friendly and very knowledgeable, and the food absolutely delicious, with great wine options. Special shout to the wild garlic risotto and lamb dish. Thank you to the team at Library.
At Library Street, a restaurant listed in the Michelin Guide, you arrive expecting something special. In reality, the experience feels far more ordinary than its reputation suggests. What stays with you isn’t a standout dish or a sense of occasion, but a feeling that things don’t quite come together. Some elements of the cooking are good, but they never really build into anything memorable. The lamb, sold as a dish to share, is surprisingly small and feels misjudged for the price. Other dishes, like the asparagus, are heavy and not particularly appealing to look at, lacking the care and precision you would expect at this level. The wider experience adds to that sense of disappointment. The lighting is harsh rather than warm, the seating is tight and offers little privacy, and the advice from staff on what to order was inconsistent, which left us unsure and ultimately still a bit hungry by the end of the meal. While the staff were friendly and clearly trying their best, the overall service felt slightly disjointed. For somewhere associated with the Michelin Guide, you expect more than just good food, you expect consistency, attention to detail, and a clear sense of identity. That’s what feels missing here. There is potential, and there are moments of quality, but it doesn’t come together in a way that justifies the reputation. As someone who regularly dines in Michelin-starred and Michelin Guide restaurants, this felt more like a casual dining experience than anything close to that standard. Pleasant in parts, but ultimately hugely underwhelming and not one that lives up to its billing. Wouldn’t recommend.
Exceptional grub. Great service and I just like tablecloths so that’s why atmosphere is only 4 stars. I know it’s wierd. But the intensity of flavours and imagination of the chef and pairings were flawless. Lobster and scallop ravioli was the star and I also loved the quail. Milk espumate was a fab dessert. Oysters with cherry was amazing. Loved the raw fish consommé. The Georgian wine -Bedoba Saperavi punched way above its weight and worth seeking out . 10 out of 10 - full marks.
