Housed in a 17th-century admiral's palace built atop the foundations of Huáscar’s Inca palace, this museum offers the most comprehensive look into the Tahuantinsuyo empire. It boasts the world's largest collection of 'Queros' (ceremonial wooden cups) and several remarkably preserved mummies found in the surrounding mountains. A unique highlight is the second ticket check at the staircase, which leads you to the most precious artifacts and high-quality colonial textiles on the upper floor.
Very interesting museum about Încă civilization, although a little old setup compared with macchu picchu museum
A tad outdated but very much worth the visit for an hour of 2. There are quite interesting facts you are probably not able to find easily on the internet. There is also a stand where the Inca instruments are illustrated, pure magic!
If you love history & mummies, you must go! They only take payment in effectivo — 20 soles for foreign adults.
This museum does have a lot to see and learn about. The peaceful atmosphere is welcome after being pursued by the peddlers in the street on the main square! There are some less interesting pieces like the plain terracotta pottery which is a little repetitive. The place could do with some modernisation too in terms of decor and signage etc.
