What an amazing hotel. We arrived at this hotel after touring the Urubamba Valley for a few days and were stunned at just how luxurious the property was. From the moment we had to literally knock on the wooden front door to have it unlocked and opened by a staff member we were transfixed by the history and luxury that are within the hotel and its' rooms. We had dinner here one night and loved every bite...lucky for us, the entire hotel was rented out by our group...which made the stay even more special. The price for the hotel is no joke...and it may be priced out of many traveler's budgets. Hell-it is beyond what I would normally spend- but boy am I happy that I did.
Perhaps I’m not made for Inkaterra… they are rated so highly on here and on Michelin and the two I’ve stayed at have been absolute misses. The location of this hotel is fantastic, as are the hard product of the rooms. However, the breakfast everyone raves about? A tiny table filled with carbs. I think there was literally one small plate of one kind of cured meats and that is it. The a la carte was somewhat better, but honestly, nothing exciting. This 10am check out is the most insane thing I’ve heard in my entire life. I was offered an 11am “late checkout”. I asked the hotel for spa pricing where I was sent a list and the destress massage was clearly listed at $65. When I checked out they tried to charge me over $80 and said it was because it was in soles. Then they asked if I used a bathrobe during my stay. Yes?? Isn’t that why those are provided? Then they asked if I took it, which I did not. My room backed up to the staff area so was very noisy starting at 5am and the room does not have decent blackout shades, light floods through at 5:30am if you weren’t already woken up from all the noise. All of this would be fine if this was a normally priced hotel, but for $500 a night and to be around the same price as the two neighboring Belmond’s, I cannot recommend this hotel and honestly will be staying away from the Inkaterra brand from now on. They must have bribed someone at Michelin….
Best hotel in Cusco with truly exceptional service! A very special thank you to Shiomara, who went above and beyond to help us. Our Machu Picchu train was delayed, and she kindly arranged to pick up our garment for us — otherwise we wouldn’t have made it. We’re so grateful for her kindness and professionalism. Highly recommend!
Noisy cold room No hot water Alert : there is no thermostat in the toom , it is central and apparently by law they have to keep temp low due to old age of the building Same for water - so if you like hot shower … forget it. Communication is also very difficult — you can ask at least twice and yet you will not be answered correctly . The room we stayed at faced the square and when we brought up the issue they answers was : “ use the free ear plugs we provided “ Forget that , you deserve better .
Had a marvelous time in this wonderful hotel. Incredible location only two blocks from the Plaza de Armas…built in the 1500’s and retains a magical quality of transforming you in time. Highly recommended….
