Ruby was definitely worth the visit for us. The staff were friendly and attentive. We tried six drinks between the two of us and an order of the Parmesan coated sausages. We thoroughly enjoyed everything. We were fortunate enough to get a couple of seats at the window without reservations as we arrived just after opening. Comparing the menu against other reviews, it looks like they change the selection regularly. We will be back the next time we visit Copenhagen.
If you’re looking for the ultimate ‘if you know, you know’ spot in Copenhagen, Ruby is it. Tucked away in a stunning 1850s townhouse on Nybrogade, there’s no flashy neon sign here—just a subtle buzzer and a vibe that feels like stumbling into the world’s coolest private living room. I visited a couple of weeks ago, and it’s easily one of the most atmospheric spots in the city. The space is split into these gorgeous, dimly lit nooks with Chesterfield sofas and Persian rugs. It’s ‘posh’ without the pretension; the staff are incredibly welcoming and clearly know their craft. We spent the evening in the back lounge, which is perfect if you want a bit of a moody, intimate setting, but the courtyard is a hidden gem if you catch a break in the weather. The drinks were genuinely world-class. They manage to bridge the gap between classic drinking and forward thinking perfectly. Whether you’re a cocktail nerd or just want a well-balanced drink in a beautiful room, this place hits the mark every time. Make sure to look for the ‘Embassy of Georgia’ buzzer at the entrance; it’s the iconic Ruby landmark, but don't actually press it, just walk straight in. The cocktail menu rotates, but here are the standout ones I saw on my visit which included the awesome Fjord Martini a savory treat, dill-kaviari akvavit, cucumber and brine, it brought back memories of fjords and the Danish seaside from many years ago. The mixologists are very accommodating, and for my second cocktail before running away for dinner was a perfectly dry dirty vodka martini. Other signature cocktails available on my visit were: *Risalamande (Clarified): A silky, refined mix of Altamura Vodka, pisco, sour cherry, and tonka. It’s like a liquid, elegant version of the classic Danish dessert *Deep Purple: For something punchy. Michter’s Bourbon, beetroot salted caramel, white miso, and sherry. Perfectly balanced and deeply savory *Keep It Ruby: A brighter, fizzy choice with Johnnie Walker Black Ruby, coffee, and raspberry *Frozen Teahouse Colada: A tropical, vibrant mix of Eminente 3 Rum, pandan, and condensed milk. ‘Cold AF’ and delicious If this was helpful, please ‘Like’!
Outstanding cocktail experience! The “doorman” was very friendly, welcoming us to the cocktail bar minutes before last call. We chose to sit by the bar to watch how each cocktail was made. I’d also recommend checking out the rest of the bar for the decor. My favorite drink was the Risalamande (clarified), but honestly, you can’t go wrong with the choices here.
Ruby was such a cute bar! Perfect space for day time drinking - the bar was beautifully lit through a window. We had some nice drinks and a lovely chat with the friendly bar team.
Absolutely wonderful cocktail bar in a mid 18th century townhouse looking out towards the parliament building. We were in the main room on 1st floor with views overlooking the street. They also have a back room and a basement as well as an outdoor area accessed from indoors. We arrived here on a Sunday evening and it was popular but the friendly staff managed to fit us in. Would recommend booking. Cocktails were around 130 to 140 DKK. There is about 10 to 12 cocktails on the menu but they also do all the classics.
