Phenomenal hotel. In a world filled with ugly cookie cutter hotels, this historic water tower is quite the unique experience. Of the 16 nights my family spent on holiday in Germany and Czech Republic, this was our favorite stay. Hilton Honors status was recognized with free breakfast and a phenomenal room upgrade to a two-story King suite with a view of the Kolner Dom out of our window. There are plenty of design elements that highlight the uniqueness of the hotel, including a large gear (presumably from the water tower before renovation) to a list of facts about the building on the wall. We enjoyed an even better view of it both evenings from the rooftop bar. All of the staff were fantastic in the hotel, but especially those working up there. They were profusely apologetic about being understaffed one night, but we felt that even then the service was better than we found elsewhere in Cologne. The location could be a turn off to some, but we hopped on the S-bahn just a block from the hotel when we went to the zoo. Walking back from the Kolner Dom area later that evening took about 20 minutes, and felt safe. I enjoyed only the briefest of time in the sauna suite, as our itinerary was quite full. While large and modern, I wish the temperature was that of a Finnish sauna (90C) and not of a bio sauna (50C). The adjacent gym was huge. Overall, a fabulous stay!

What can I say, my husband has brought me here for my birthday. It was a lovely surprise. We arrived at the hotel, no real welcome at all. In fact we were ignored for ages. We were early so left our bag and headed out. On return we were allocated Room 814. Even though I had been offered another room, I think 835, they didn't even re offer it. We were just checked in. There was a basic card in my room say happy birthday. Is the Hilton Hotel struggling with a recession? I have never had such a bad welcome at a Hilton Hotel or any other. I was recommended but will not be recommending this hotel. We were very, very disappointed!

This was my first stay at a Curio Collection hotel, and it exceeded expectations! While the property isn’t right next to the Cathedral, it’s conveniently located near a metro station (lines 16 and 18) with a lift that takes you straight to street level. We stayed in a suite that was incredibly spacious—over 500 sqft—and absolutely spotless. The sauna was a nice touch, though it closes at 10 pm. Breakfast was a highlight: instead of the usual made-to-order omelette station found in other Hilton hotels, there were freshly cooked items to choose from. My Apple French toast was sensational! The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, and the thoughtful Christmas sweets at reception added a festive touch. Overall, a fantastic stay with great service and comfort. Highly recommend!

If you are a big fan of water towers just as I am, you’d enjoy this place. It preserved a lot of its initial circular structure and atmosphere. One of a kind experience that makes you want to come back. Unfortunately, the terrace is not accessible, so you’ll have to be satisfied with enjoying the view from the room window. I was lucky enough to be accommodated on the 8th floor. There’s a bar on the top floor that is accessible to all—apart from Monday when it’s open for hotel guests exclusively. Great atmosphere, good people and delicious water at the reception! :)

Everything about the hotel was great. My only complaint is the breakfast. We arrived at 0745 and all of the food was gone (eggs, bacon, sausage, etc.) and wasn't ever re-stocked except for the bacon. The pastries were also very limited and the coffee machine wasn't working properly. And it was 31 EUROs, (per person) which was not commensurate with the quality and selection.
