A highly social, independent hostel located close to the university district and the nightlife of the Kwartier Latäng.

Nice hostel for sleeping with your friends if you can book a full room. Location is close to the center. The hostel is very affordable, so you can expect it to be minimalistic and if you are a light sleeper you should bring earplugs due to the close tramline. Would recommend if friends are only looking for a place to crash at night.
Conveniently located at the junction of several U-bahn lines, you'll be treated to the screech of cornering light rail at all hours. The rooms are poorly ventilated, so closing the windows to screen out the sound offers no respite as you will end up in a humid stuffy cloud. There is no reception here, they offer "self check-in" which is just keys sticky taped to a desk and an "emergency number" which nobody answers. I met one guest who had been looking for a staff member for three days. There's a very polite sign in the bathroom suggesting not to be mad with them if it's a mess, just to contact them, but as above, that's impossible. One of the taps leaks badly, one of the ladies' toilets was permanently locked, and once, overnight, all the ladies' toilets were completely locked. There's a nice enough kitchen. Outside it, guest sheets sit on drying racks for days at a time - other guests could be pissing on them and nobody would know because there's no management here. The towels you're given for post shower are glorified bath mats and probably existed during my previous visit to Cologne in 2004. I can tolerate all of this stuff but I can't believe the price they're charging for virtually no service is a joke.
BEDBUGS!!! We stayed 3 nights and I got bitten in the first night, had to sleep on the floor - called the owner and their response was: „We sent a cleaning lady, she changed the bedsheets and didn’t see any bugs“ - and asked me: „What should I do now?“ - we asked for being in another room and deep clean the hell out of the place - they told us that they couldn’t find another place for us to stay so we have to stay ANOTHER NIGHT!! In there and only offered us to refund 1 night. This is insane and irresponsible! I doubt they have actually taken this seriously. I had to throw away all my stuff and deep clean our whole place.
Good for startup founders who just want to stay overnight, good location, REWE direct opposite. If you close the windows, it won't be too loud. Kitchen, bath, toilette, all clean. Recommended for guys and lads travelling, startup founders. Not recommended for family, group of women with high demand in service and parfume.
Horrible area, entrance is basically a public toilet. Our room smelled like old smoke, airing out only brought in the smell of fast food and more smoke due to the ventilation right outside. Two women's toilets were broken, no warm water at times. Staff was nice and room itself was fine for the price. Still, wouldn't stay here again.
