The Peninsula Chicago is one of those rare hotels that actually lives up to the reputation. Every detail feels intentional — from the cleanliness standards to the way the staff anticipates needs before you even ask. It has a very serious approach to hospitality, but never in a stiff or pretentious way. Everything simply runs smoothly and feels polished. What stands out most is that it delivers a true five-star experience while still occasionally offering surprisingly reasonable room rates if you book strategically. That combination is hard to find. It genuinely feels worth traveling for, even if the hotel itself becomes part of the destination. The service across the board is exceptional — valet, housekeeping, concierge, front desk — everyone contributes to the atmosphere. Special shoutout to Joy at the front desk, who was incredibly helpful and welcoming. She really sets the tone for the entire stay and reflects the level of care the hotel is known for. If you’re looking for a getaway that leaves you feeling refreshed, taken care of, and genuinely impressed, The Peninsula Chicago absolutely delivers.

If I can give this place a 0 I would. What my family and I experienced at this hotel was complete devastation. What we expected to be an amazing 40th birthday / 10 year wedding anniversary turned into a complete nightmare and it all started when we checked our vehicle into valet. Within 24hours into our stay, our car was stolen while in the hands of the hotel / valet services. Everyone involved seemed to be apologetic until it was turned over into the hands of the companies insurance. Not only do they speak to us as if we’re the criminal , they feel no need to compensate us for the loss we endured while the car was in the hotels possession. Not only are we at such a huge loss with our vehicle - some of our families belongings were stolen with the truck. Be very careful when checking into this hotel. They will take your vehicle and park it in a garage and will NOT notify you. Lo and behold our car was stolen 3 days before we checked out and had no clue. The hotel will take all your money and not one bit care about your safety. They’ve done nothing for us It is now 3 months and we are still dealing with this situation and it just keeps getting worse. Find yourself a different hotel.

Booked through Chase Sapphire Edit program. Hotel is luxurious with excellent facilities. It is poorly managed, staff is poorly trained and are, at times, overwhelmed. Did not get the room upgrade. Received a horrible room, 1215, across from the service room where housekeeping and room-service work all-day; constant noise - door slamming, staff talking/yelling in the hallway. At check-in, was told I would get a daily room credit for the included breakfast - which is not entirely accurate. It's not a credit, it is use-it-or-lose-it; with balance billing. I can't remember the exact amount of the stipend but it does not cover their basic "Peninsula Breakfast." Was told at check-in our "late" check-out time is noon; which was fine we were leaving away. On check-out day, went to lobby to review folio and then had breakfast in the lobby. After clearing our plates it took about 1/2 hour to get the check, got back to the room at 10:30 am; and our keys did not work; I asked the supervising housekeeper to let us in. She said she couldn't but would call the front desk. I overheard her say- "I show they are checked-out." After waiting a long time, a guy from the front desk came and let us back into the room, but did not bring a key. I asked for him to bring us a key, and he never came back, we got no additional response. There was a message on the TV indicating we checked-out. When booking through Chase Sapphire, whether through points or cash, you pay a premium but it's "fool's gold." (You don't get the benefits.) What's the point if the hotel is going to treat you as if you booked through an on-line discount provider. (At Z Bar, they are rude. I'm not sure if it's managed by the hotel, though; so, won't bother with the details.)

I booked 2 rooms for one night this past weekend so my former Northwestern residents and I could have meet up reunion in the city. We were checked in by Floyd, although checked in is not the right word. He was so welcoming and enthusiastic and professional. He went over our amenities and our complimentary upgrade we had received and told us about the complimentary car that could take us to dinner. He even took a picture of my gang, suitcases and all ,to commemorate our arrival of being together again after a few decades. He was so enthusiastic and took so much pride in his job and made us truly feel welcome. At checkout, he looked out for our group as well helping us to manage the credits we received as part of our booking package for breakfast etc. We also received a delicious fruit platter and truffles and cupcake for a birthday, so thank you Mari Razumich-Zec for also making us feel special. The hotel is magnificent, breakfast in The Lobby was delicious, and the room was amazing. Truly a special experience!

This was the greatest hotel I’ve ever stayed at. At the check in desk, a nice employee upgraded us (we had a room for two people and we were four people) to a suite. Although the pool was closed for maintenance, the whole package was nothing I’ve ever experienced. The bathrooms had complementary slippers, toothbrushes, hair combs, and so much more. The beds were very comfortable. Overall 5 star experience!
