What an amazing place!! The Green Mill has such an amazing atmosphere and you can feel the history inside. On a Saturday night at ~8:30, we only had to wait about 15 mins to get in. As expected, it does get really full, so be prepared for a tight squeeze. However, we managed to get through the main crowd off the side where we could enjoy some drinks before the next jazz set. An awesome employee managed to get us two seats right near the stage just in time for the set which was really appreciated, and she was very lovely! The drinks were delicious and very well priced for the type of place. Stayed for 2 sets, both of which were outstanding as expected. Definitely a spot for really high quality live jazz, and we can't wait to be back!

If you like jazz, you can't beat this place. The atmosphere in here is incredible. There is a genuine, old world charm that radiates through the building. Seating is limited, so be prepared to either get there early or sit/stand along the wall. You need to pay to enter and drinks aren't cheap, but it makes sense considering the amount of people that would freeload otherwise. Don't come here expecting it to be anything like a bar, if that's what you're looking for than go elsewhere. The main attraction here is the music. There's no talking during performances so be respectful. The performers take themselves seriously and you will be asked to leave if you're being a disturbance.

The live band and audience made the place such a great atmosphere until you interact with two of the staff members who were such vibe killers. There was an older woman who was rude upon entry. Tried to ignore how she talked to me after interacting with her three times but even my husband noticed how she gave such a mean attitude. We ordered 2 beers and 1 bottle of wine. We asked the older man for water, he shook his head no and then walked off despite seeing another group sitting at the bar with a pitcher of water. Imagine not giving your customers water when they are trying to hydrate after drinking quite a bit. That's irresponsible as a bartender. Honestly visiting Chicago was amazing but for me personally, this was my least favorite experience that happened. I love visiting jazz bars and was really looking forward to going to this specific one since its historical. I'm near NYC and have visited NOLA so I'm sad this was a lacking experience. Soul Message was phenomenal and if I had the opportunity to see them again but at a different location, I would. I'd skip this place and go to a different jazz bar in Chicago.

Truly authentic historic jazz club. Some of the best Chicago jazz in a different style every night. Definitely worth checking out Tuesday nights for the Chicago Cellar Boys. They play incredibly authentic 1920 style jazz. Feels like you have stepped back in time when you walk in the door. Bring cash…and your dancing shoes on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
