I had a really tasty lunch here. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and is very much used to tourists. I was loosing hope of having a nice vegetarian meal in Morocco, but here I found the food I needed. The staff was also very nice and accommodating. Would definitely recommend.

La Sqala – Casablanca A popular place in Casablanca that attracts many visitors due to its reputation and location. The restaurant usually has heavy traffic and a high demand, especially during busy hours. What I liked: • Friendly and welcoming staff • A large variety of food with several open buffet options • A lively atmosphere with many visitors Service & Organization: One concern was the phone line. Repeated calls were not answered, yet once arriving at the restaurant they ask for a prior reservation, which can put guests in an awkward situation. Comfort: The seating was unfortunately not very comfortable, which affected the overall experience. Food: There is a good amount of food and variety, but the taste felt average overall. Nothing particularly stood out as a signature dish. Overall: It was an experience to try, but for me it felt average in most aspects.

A Wonderful Experience at La Sqala I had a great experience at La Sqala restaurant. I tried the lamb with prunes and the Tangia tajine, and both dishes were delicious. The food was well prepared, full of flavor, and the meat was incredibly tender. I also enjoyed a cup of Moroccan mint tea (atai), which was excellent. What truly made the experience special was the kind and thoughtful service. I was accompanied by my father, who uses a wheelchair, and the staff were extremely helpful in assisting us to access the restaurant and the restroom smoothly despite any challenges. Special thanks to Adil, Yaqin, and Khalil for their support and warm welcome. I really enjoyed both the food and the hospitality. I would highly recommend this restaurant to friends visiting Casablanca, and if I return, I will definitely visit again.

We had breakfast at Sqala and ordered the breakfast for two. At first, we did have to wait a bit and call the staff over to our table, even though it didn’t seem very busy. However, once everything arrived, the experience improved. The breakfast was good. a nice introduction to a traditional Moroccan-style breakfast. The place has a nice, relaxed vibe, and we especially loved that orange juice and coffee were already included. Overall, a pleasant experience.

The ambiance was okay, and the restaurant is located in an old Portuguese fortress, which is beautiful, clean, and very cozy. You feel comfortable the moment you walk in. Unfortunately, the experience goes downhill from there. The place feels like a tourist trap. The food was a letdown and didn’t reflect any authentic local or traditional flavors. The Lamb Tagine was especially disappointing. It was swimming with fat, oil, and peas, with only two small chunks of meat. The quality and quantity were nowhere near worth the high price. Even the Moroccan mint tea didn’t resemble the real Moroccan tea you find everywhere in Marrakech and Fez. The taste is just different. If you’ve ever tasted real traditional Moroccan food, the difference is night and day. Service was slow, and the staff seemed unfriendly and overwhelmed. Getting the bill took an unusually long time, even after requesting it multiple times. The staff were constantly rushing around without actually attending to customers. Overall, not an experience I’d recommend. I honestly wonder how this place receives such high ratings, because the overall experience didn’t come close to matching them.
