The building is large, but the exhibitions are arranged quite randomly and lack any clear logic. Everything is only in Spanish, with no English translations available, and the admission fee is relatively expensive 33k per person for what is offered. We cannot recommend this museum.

Pretty interesting museum but fair warning if spanish is not your first language it may be difficult to follow along. There is a lot of interesting information and pieces. The place has beautiful balcony that over look the park and street. I really enjoyed it.

This is a small museum the details the Inquisition and the history of Cartagena. As others have noted, its almost exclusively done in Spanish. I took my time and used Google translate (the photo option) to soak in the museum. Its chilling learn about the inquisition and how history is currently repeating itself on the ground floor. Upstairs I learned about the horrors of the slave trade and some history of the city. I spent maybe 2 hours and didnt get through it all, in the end the heat did me in and I needed more water. Note the museum is not air conditioned. It can be a little confusing the order you should follow, but it is a small museum so that helps. Definitely recommend for the history buff, or those that appreciate seeing today's current events with a historical perspective.

Very interesting but embarrassing that such an old museum (over 100 years open to the public) did not translate any of the exhibits into English. Everything is only in Spanish.

Visited on a Wednesday. I will say that online it says it opens at 9am and I went right at 9 and was told that it doesn’t open until 9:30am so just be watchful of that if you’re on a schedule or have an itinerary. Other than that, it was a lovely visit. Easy to buy tickets at the counter and the historical content was very interesting.
