The hotel itself is beautiful and centrally located. However, we had a terrible experience with my husband‘s Gold chain being snatched Right outside the hotel. We spent an entire day at the police station but nothing came out of it. Did not anticipate this since it was known to be a very safe area and one of the best hotels. There was police everywhere, but they were more interested in writing down the report for getting credit for showing that they were addressing Tourist concerns rather than really trying to get the chain back. Ultimately, we did not get it. That was a blip in our Trip To Cartagena , Especially thinking we were staying at a hotel In a good area.

An unforgettable stay at Hotel Charleston Santa Teresa in Cartagena. The location is perfect, right in the heart of the Old Town, allowing you to explore everything on foot while enjoying a peaceful and refined atmosphere. The colonial building is stunning, full of history, with a charming inner courtyard and beautifully restored architecture. I really love this colonial architecture. The rooftop pool offers breathtaking views over the sea and the rooftops of Cartagena. The rooms are elegant, spacious, impeccably clean, and extremely comfortable. The service is outstanding: attentive, warm, and always ready to help with a genuine smile. You truly feel welcomed and cared for. The breakfast is varied and high quality, featuring fresh and local products. A hotel that perfectly combines luxury, authenticity, and serenity. I highly recommend it and would gladly return.

I have visited this restaurant few times before and specifically came back for the posta negra, which I’ve enjoyed in the past. Unfortunately, this visit was extremely disappointing. The meat was very dry, tough, and completely lacking flavor. It didn’t resemble the dish I’ve ordered here before. After just two bites, I had to stop eating because it was simply not enjoyable. I explained to the waitress that the dish was far below expectations and that every time I come from New York I order the same dish. Nothing was done, no replacement, no adjustment to the bill. I still had to pay for a meal I barely touched. Consistency and customer service matter. If a restaurant cannot maintain quality or respond appropriately when a loyal customer raises a concern, it says a lot about the standards being upheld. Very disappointing experience. I will never return again.

I stayed at Charleston Santa Teresa Cartagena for a wedding and it was absolutely beautiful. The room was stunning — elegant, spacious, and truly luxurious. Every detail throughout the hotel felt refined and high-end. The service was exceptional from start to finish; the staff was attentive, warm, and professional. It made the entire wedding experience even more special. A true luxury stay in Cartagena — I would absolutely return.

This is, without question, one of the best values I’ve ever experienced in a hotel—and by “value,” I don’t mean affordability. I mean that even at the very top of the price spectrum, this hotel delivers so much that it could charge more and still be worth every dollar. The service is exceptional: warm, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful at every level. The food is outstanding—consistently excellent, beautifully executed, and memorable. The amenities are refined and luxurious without feeling pretentious, and the location is unbeatable, right in the heart of the Old City. This is easily one of my favorite hotels I’ve ever stayed in, anywhere in the world. I’ve been traveling for over 25 years, including six years of nearly continuous travel, so that’s not something I say lightly. We actually checked out of another well-known luxury hotel in Cartagena a couple of days early because the experience was so disappointing, and came here looking for something better. What we found exceeded every expectation. From the moment we arrived, it was clear we had made the right decision. At this point, I honestly don’t see myself staying anywhere else in Cartagena again. The Charleston Santa Teresa sets the standard.
