A stunning cathedral right in the heart of the old town. The architecture is beautiful, and the interior has a peaceful, spiritual atmosphere. A must-see when walking through Cartagena.
Truly breathtaking, this colonial gem is a lasting symbol of Cartagena's rich history. With its towering columns, detailed mosaics, and grand, peaceful atmosphere, the Catedral de Santa Catalina de Alejandría instantly makes an impression. We happened to visit during Sunday Mass, which made the experience even more special. I don't speak Spanish, but the beautiful prayers and hymns still pulled me in, creating a deep, spiritual atmosphere. When the service ended, I saw people hugging, comforting each other—some with tears in their eyes. It was incredibly touching and something I won't forget. Just outside, the city is buzzing with street vendors, music, and color. But the moment you step into the cathedral, it feels like a different world—quiet, reflective, and full of meaning. Whether you're into architecture, history, or just looking for a memorable experience, this place is definitely worth a visit.
Very nice and completely open to the public despite being a working church. Worth the stop.
Nice cathedral! Young women touched the balls of the door & wish to get married soon!
Well maintained, stunning cathedral in the old colonial city centre.
