There are certain hotels that feel like destinations in their own right, and Hotel Casa San Agustín is undoubtedly one of them. The property’s rich history is woven into every detail, from its uniquely designed rooms to the maze-like layout that invites you to wander and discover something beautiful around every corner. The courtyard and pool area alone are breathtaking. The culinary experience is equally exceptional. Breakfast, included with the stay, is truly outstanding, and the coconut dessert at dinner is not to be missed. Two experiences stand out as absolute musts: the spa, where I had one of the best massages of my life, and the opportunity to spend time at the Acasí property. Having what felt like a private beach for 24 hours was nothing short of magical. What truly elevates this hotel, however, are the thoughtful touches and the people. From nightly homemade treats and rotating breads at breakfast to small gestures like shopping cards, every detail feels intentional. The front desk team, Andrew, Yanelis, Katherine, and Jaime, were consistently attentive and welcoming. A particularly special thank you goes to Yeinty, who took care of us each morning at breakfast. Her warmth made us feel less like guests and more like friends. Thank you to the entire Hotel Casa San Agustín. We will be back soon!
Excellent experience! We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The service was outstanding and the staff was always friendly, professional, and attentive. The reception team was extremely helpful and made everything easy from check-in to check-out. The restaurant and bar were fantastic — great food, excellent cocktails, and a very pleasant atmosphere. The location is perfect, close to everything yet quiet and comfortable. Highly recommended. After we experienced hotels in Bogota & Medellin, this one was the perfect one! We would definitely stay here again.
One of the best hotels I have ever experienced. Great location in the heart of the old city. Beautiful hotel in an historic building. Beautiful furnishings. Alma is a fabulous restaurant. Colombian fruit is an experience in itself. But it is the staff that puts it over the top: warm, helpful and dedicated to their guests. I loved this place.
This was our first time in Cartagena, and I am so glad we chose Casa San Agustín for our stay. From the moment we arrived, the experience felt special. We were checked in by Andrew and welcomed with beverages and cool towels, which made for a wonderful start to our stay. After check-in, we were given a tour of the property, informed of the available services and escorted to our room, where our bags were already waiting. The hotel is beautiful and full of history and charm, yet everything feels modern, upscale and thoughtfully maintained. Its location in the Walled City was incredibly convenient for exploring shops, dining and nearby sights, but at the same time the hotel still felt peaceful and tucked away. With only 30-plus rooms, it felt intimate and personal — more like a private retreat than a traditional hotel. Our room was excellent, and the terrace was absolutely a standout feature that we really enjoyed. Once we settled in, we took advantage of the spa and later had a fabulous dinner at Alma. Dining outside under the stars while listening to a lovely four-piece band made for a truly memorable evening, and it ended up being one of the best meals of our trip. Breakfast the next morning was just as impressive. My wife even asked for something that was not on the menu, and the team was happy to accommodate her, which said a lot about their approach to service and hospitality. Andrew and the entire team made us feel genuinely welcome throughout our stay. The personalized service was exceptional and played a big part in making the experience so memorable. If we return to Cartagena, this would without question be the one and only place we would stay. Highly recommended.
My husband and I stayed at Casa San Agustín, and wow… I’m already dreaming about going back. I’m originally from Colombia but now live in the U.S., and this trip was extra special — it was my husband’s first time in Cartagena and my birthday week. I decided to splurge on a great hotel, and Casa San Agustín exceeded every single expectation. From the moment you walk in, you’re hit with the most incredible scent — truly unforgettable. Everyone greets you with a smile, and the service is next-level attentive in the most genuine way. We were welcomed with refreshing drinks, and Jeffrey was the first friendly face we met. He guided us to our room, which was even more beautiful than I had imagined. Water was always stocked, and the nightly turndown service included thoughtful little treats that made each evening feel special. Breakfast every morning was perfection — traditional dishes I’ve been wanting my husband to try, but elevated just enough to make the experience fun and memorable. Portions were perfect too. The hotel itself is stunning. We wandered through the hallways, patios, and terraces discovering charming corners everywhere. The team helped us book fantastic excursions, including a day trip to Acasí — highly, highly recommended. They arranged private transportation (very affordable, especially for groups) and the private island experience with lunch was absolute paradise. The location is ideal — close to amazing restaurants, shopping, and an easy walk to Getsemaní. Their sister hotel, Casa Pestagua, is nearby too, and I might try staying there next time… but honestly, Casa San Agustín stole my heart. It’s the only place I’ll consider when we return. And the spa… THE SPA. I booked a last-minute evening massage and it was one of the best I’ve ever had. I wish I could remember the names of the wonderful ladies who helped me because my back felt healed afterward. If you’re on the fence about booking — just do it. Casa San Agustín is pure magic.
