I visited Alma, located inside what feels like a very upscale and beautiful hotel, Casa San Agustin. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere stands out: elegant, calm, and clearly designed for a premium dining experience. The location is also a big plus, right in the heart of the Ciudad Amurallada, which makes it especially appealing if you’re exploring the old city. We started with two appetizers, and those were genuinely very good—well executed, flavorful, and exactly what you’d expect from a restaurant at this level. Unfortunately, my main dish didn’t live up to the same standard. I ordered the tuna, and the quality was below what I would expect given the premium price point. It wasn’t bad, but it didn’t justify the cost or match the expectations set by the setting and the starters. Another downside was the menu itself. It felt quite limited, almost like you were choosing from only five main options. While a curated menu can be a good thing, this one felt a bit too restrictive and left little room if you weren’t fully convinced by the available dishes. That said, the service was excellent. The staff were attentive, professional, and consistently helpful throughout the meal, which definitely elevated the overall experience. Combined with the beautiful location and ambiance, it still made for a pleasant evening. Overall, I’d recommend Alma if you’re in Cartagena and looking for an upscale dining experience in a great location. However, I do think there are better high-end options in the city that offer stronger main courses or more variety. For that reason, I’d give it 4 stars.

EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE! EXQUISITE FOOD! This was a farewell dinner for our group. We wanted something light and received so much more than expected from there service to the food. Orlando is awesome! The warm and welcome service we received was above any other restaurant in Cartagena.

In our opinion this was one of the best restaurants in Cartagena! This is a great spot to have a romantic dinner. The restaurant is more high-end than other places and it has a luxurious and authentic ambience. We were seated outside near a water feature. For starters we got special bread on the house which was quite tasty. Our main dishes were amazing, it was incredibly flavourful! The portion size was great. The staff was really friendly to us. During our meal a live band started playing which enhanced the atmosphere. The prices are very reasonable for the food and experience you get. We can certainly recommend this place!
