We recently stayed at the Grand Daddy on arriving to Capetown. The hotel amenities are nicely done, and our room was spacious. The staff at the Grand Daddy were fabulous, helpful, friendly and always greeted us with a smile and conversation. This was a good place to base ourselves from, and was easy to get Ubers to/from other central locations. At night the area can be quite noisy, but the hotel provided ear plugs which was amazing. The area outside on the road early morning and evenings didn’t feel particularly safe, but the hotel itself had security and staff at reception and felt very safe. I would recommend staying here
I recently visited the Grand Daddy Boutique Hotel for a friend’s birthday celebration, where she had booked the Rabbit Room with an Alice in Wonderland theme. I absolutely loved the authenticity and creativity of the room it truly felt whimsical and unique. The bar and lounge area were equally impressive, with a neat yet rustic atmosphere that made the experience feel warm and inviting. The bathrooms were clean and thoughtfully equipped, even including a flat iron for the ladies to use, which was a lovely touch. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I’m definitely looking forward to returning for a more casual visit to the hotel in the future.
Our stay at this hotel was a truly unique experience. The location is perfect – right in the very center of the city, which made it easy to explore everything nearby. The rooms are set in special trailers on the rooftop, which is such an interesting and original concept. It made our stay even more memorable. The breakfasts were very good, with a nice selection to start the day. The staff were extremely kind and attentive, always taking great care of our comfort and safety. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this hotel!
Uhh… nothing about this hotel gives 4 star ratings. 😬 I stayed for one night because the water was out in my Airbnb, so this hotel was close by and I figured it would be decent for one night. There is visible mold in the bathroom, room was unfinished with artwork on the floor, a rolled up rug, nails (NAILS!!!) on the nightstand which I’m assuming is intended to hang the artwork… 😬 The bed was comfortable, but the walls are thin and I woke up to a maintenance guy working right by my room, holding a loud conversation at 8am. 😑 Another reviewer correctly labeled it as “dilapidated charm” which is the best way to describe it. I definitely don’t recommend booking if you want a pleasant hotel experience.
Our stay at Grand Daddy Hotel was extremely disappointing, especially given the circumstances. I was very sick and throwing up, and at 6 a.m. my husband needed to go to the pharmacy to get me medication, but the front door was locked with no way to exit and no staff available to help us. This felt unsafe and unacceptable. The hotel itself felt very old and poorly maintained, with broken elevators and a generally run-down condition. Our room was extremely loud, with constant outside noise and traffic, making rest impossible. The surrounding area also felt unsafe. We stayed based on good reviews but were genuinely shocked, particularly during a time when basic care and safety were crucial. Would not recommend.
