Nice atmosphere and great band. The food was tasty but quite small portions for the price. I was wondering where the other 3/4 of my meal was. The staff were quite friendly and service was good. 12% tip forced on top of quite pricey meal for any sized table was also a bit cheeky. It was a nice evening but I don’t think the price is justified. Expensive and then still a cover charge for the entertainment. Also I don’t drink and the evening cost R1k.
We had a wonderful dinner with live music at the Blue Room. The starters were perfect, very creative. The mains were solid. The service was struggling a bit but the restaurant was fully booked, so it was understandable. We would definitely come again for music and drinks.
Visited over the festive season. Drinks are good, service great. Food well plated and palatable but not exciting - lacking the delicious “I want more” feel. Sound for the show very poorly balanced which made the performance sound noisy and cluttered.
I’m not one to leave negative reviews but this was such a catastrophically bad experience tonight that I have to talk about. Which is a shame because the acts were fantastic and having such a hungry crowd did them no service. We arrived at 6pm for Valentine’s Day, booked this place because I had previously heard such good things and the venue looked warm and inviting. We placed our order by 6:15 for the three course set menu. It took two hours for our starters to appear - which was not even our order, our waiter apologised and took it back but an hour later there were still no starters. As we got up to leave, the manager came to apologise personally and promised our starters would be out soon. The starters arrived within 5 minutes as promised - they assured us it would not be long to wait for our mains and that they would be out ASAP. 20 minutes pass, then 30… 40… it hits 10PM, the acts are finishing up and we still do not have our mains. By this point, we should have given up and left 2 hours ago. We were not the only table having this issue either, there are about 20 tables in the whole venue but half of them are not receiving their orders until hours into the evening. This is not a complex operation, it is a set menu with limited seating for the night. There are about 10+ front of house staff out front who should have been prepared for a full house on Valentine’s Day. But maybe they only had one chef in the kitchen… We left frustrated and had to resort to ordering late night food in.
Hubby and me were first timers at The Blue Room a few Wednesday's ago, and what a great experience. The venue is intimate but welcoming from the moment you step inside. Friendly greetings at the door, followed through by professional happy service from waiters. The drinks and food is amazing, which compliments the venue and service, but also, the live entertainment gives it all the more a great experience, and that evening, the performances were spectacular from Darryl (Darren) Govender and Byron Clarke. Overall, it was an awesome first experience, and we will definitely be back!
