Incredible experience, our tour guide was ex prisoner here. Bus tour guide equally brilliant and very knowledgeable. First class experience
It was a good experience to visit and see how South Africans kept there and as per the guide explanation it was hell, people suffered a lot. It is very painful if you think how they stayed and there were treated. Must visit and feel the pain of many prisoners faced.
First time visit. Very informative and relevant info. Booking online preferred. Children under 2 you cannot book online. Take birth certificate along to prove age. Boar is large, clean and has a toilet onboard. The island tour is split into 2 parts- both very informative. Take snacks and water but they have a kiosk and toilets on the island for public use.
This museum is a must-visit in Cape Town. The history is essential to understanding South Africa and its rich and complex history. We had two guides- one in the bus tour, an incredibly well spoken individual who had us all entranced with the guided bus tour, around the island. The second was a man who himself had been imprisoned on the island for 7 years, and returned to continue his activism and inform. Both were incredible experiences. I highly recommend a visit and while an intense experience, was also incredible.
Yassiem Mohammed and Tom gave us a Stunning tour. Interacting with the kids and really shares their experinces to the fullest. Cant wait to visit again when we can stay for a whole day or even overnight
