FYN has been a culinary destination for quite some time. The restaurant has received many awards and I am happy to say that the concept of combining Asian and South African flavors is still very convincing. The ambiance is unique and at first you will notice that there are no tablecloth's. It creates a "naked" feel and directs your attention to the individual dishes. This makes most sense if you choose the full dining experience were several dishes shine through their presentation. The menu changes with what is available during the season allowing you to enjoy a variety of presentations each time you visit.

I have been to FYN four or five times over the years, but today’s lunch surpassed all the previous excellent experiences. I don’t think anywhere else in Cape Town comes close to what one experiences here. Additionally, Jennifer’s presence ensured a calm and orderly atmosphere which was somewhat missing on my last visit. Today the food was exceptional both in terms of presentation, an understanding of the ingredients, flavour and texture. Successfully innovative combinations of quality produce perfectly matched with some outstanding wines. Yes it is expensive by local standards but for me worth every penny and at a fraction of the cost of a comparable meal in Europe. How lucky are we! My words cannot express the excellence of every course I enjoyed so I let the pictures speak for themselves.

Fyn is in my opinion THE BEST restaurant in Cape Town. The food truelly honors south african ingredients and invokes a sense of wonder. The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable about every detail of the restaurant. You can feel the passion and dedication in all the staff and they are happy to entertain guests who want to engage in the theater that is the meal.

We came here for a date on our last night in Cape Town, and it truly exceeded our expectations. We visit Cape Town every year, so we know the restaurant scene quite well — and this place really stood out. Everything felt perfectly balanced: the food, the portions, the flavors, and the service. The fish and meat were excellent, the sauces were well balanced, and they were very accommodating with our dietary restrictions. Also, the selection of non-alcoholic cocktails was amazing — especially the sparkling tea. We left very happy. Bravo 👏

★★★★★ An Extraordinary Journey Through Japanese Fusion Mastery From the moment we were greeted, it was clear this was no ordinary evening. The staff possessed a rare quality: warmth, genuine knowledge and attentive service without being intrusive. The setting, dark and moody is contemporary with every small detail considered and every table element has been meticulously curated. The crystal-clear glassware catching the table lights, the chop sticks shaped to fit perfectly in your hands, your personal knife selection and cutlery are all integral parts of the composition. We started with the trio of cocktails, a must-try. Presented with theatrical flair – smoke, colour and precision – they were as visually stunning as they were delicious. This signalled a shared philosophy between the kitchen and bar: dining is performance as much as nourishment. The Japanese fusion taster menu that we enjoyed is a triumph of sophisticated restraint. Each course reveals complex flavour profiles, yet the kitchen never loses sight of the individual ingredient. A single ingredient, perfectly prepared, emerges from each course. Every dish will surprise you, then make you feel it couldn’t have been any other way. The wine list deserves its own paragraph. Thoughtfully considered, wide-ranging and expertly matched, our sommelier’s suggestions showed genuine discernment rather than a reflexive reach for the obvious. The tableside theatre added a final flourish. Guests become participants, not mere observers, which is exactly how it should be at this level of dining. This restaurant understands that true luxury lies in flawless execution, not ostentation. It’s an exceptional evening, without reservation.
