Had been hearing quite a bit about this bar, so decided to visit last weekend soon after opening. As a solo diner, I initially chose upstairs seating but moved to the bar counter for a better atmosphere. The experience started well with a warm welcome, but service felt inconsistent thereafter, with staff mostly engaged among themselves rather than interacting with guests. That said, JJ at the bar stood out—he was engaging, shared interesting context behind the signature cocktails, and really helped improve the overall experience. Tried two drinks: Pigmy (well balanced, with an interesting garnish of a cube of cheese) and Lion’s Share (great presentation and more bold in flavour). Also ordered the chicken popcorns, which were more like small nuggets in size but tasted good and were nicely presented. Total bill was around ZAR 500 including tip. All cocktails from signature menu are priced at 195 ZAR Overall, the drinks and concept are definitely worth trying, especially if you enjoy something different. However, service consistency—especially for solo diners—could be improved. Shoutout to JJ for making the visit enjoyable.

Fun pre-dinner drinks were enjoyed at Fable! Their cocktail and classic drink selection offers something for everyone, and we loved stepping out of our comfort zones to try a variety of options, discovering a few new favourites along the way. The presentation and taste of the drinks complemented each other, making for an enjoyable experience overall. They also have some tempting food options on the menu that we’d return to try. While the service could have been better, the atmosphere and overall vibe made up for it.

Booked a spot here for 8pm on a Saturday so we knew it would be lively, but it was our only free time on a quick trip to Cape Town. The bar was busy and the DJ played some thumping tracks (in the sense of loud and good) but we were able to have a good chat with the barmen - Grant and Cameron - and understand the stories behind the drinks. The fables translate neatly into cocktail recipes and if some of them are a little 'overwhelmed' by a small lighthouse or a dripping cloud, the effect is to enhance the drink rather than detract. The cocktails were all excellent, with subtle flavours and well concocted. We tried the sky god, hms arniston, the forsaken bush, the spicy margarita thing, the one with the tattoo, and the birkenhead drill. The snack menu is also good for a busy bar and we were served very quickly. If you can, sit at the bar counter, and watch the team at work - it's worth it.

Nice bar with nice presentation of drinks. They have the fun pretty drinks but missing the interesting innovative flavor profiles. We had some cauliflower bites that were really good.

I love it here! They really standout for their cocktail innovation, staff are super friendly, and the sets are generally geared towards millennials, which makes it such a great spot to have a good drink and listen to my favourite tunes from yesteryear.
