Had a fantastic experience at Abou El Sid. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels warm, authentic, and full of character — like stepping into a piece of classic Egyptian heritage. The food was absolutely outstanding. Every dish was rich in flavor and beautifully presented, especially the traditional favorites which tasted just like homemade comfort food, but elevated. The service was attentive and genuinely welcoming, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. If you’re looking for a place that combines authentic Egyptian cuisine, cozy ambiance, and great service in Zamalek, this is definitely a must-visit. Highly recommended!

We went for an early dinner. The food was average good - it’s not up for the hype and long lines outside. The service was terrible. It makes me suspect the restaurant staff discriminate foreigners. We got there and we were asked to wait a bit at the bar. The waiter kept telling us it would take another 5 min to get a table. We were looking at the menu and discussing what to get. Then they seated a group of locals who came after us and also waiting at the bar. We decided on what to order and kept asking for the table. They kept telling us 5 min. Once we placed the order, the waitstaff just brought our food to the bar and asked us to eat there. It’s quite a bizarre experience. We should not have trusted their 5 min expectation management.

It's a lovely restaurant and a lovely atmosphere and very authentic. I gave it a 4 rather thank 5 * as smkningvis allowed but for me is a major put off. Food was ok but not mind blowing... Maybe I didn't pick the right food. I tried to ask for advise without success as the menu doesn't really explains what the dishes are. My friend had the pigeon and he said it was good and my other friend fish tajine and she said it was ok. One major put of for me was smoking cigarettes. I would try this again and maybe choose something different.

Very nice and real Egyptian Food. Friendly personal and nice ambient. Dolma and Okra are some of the highlights of the restaurant. Many more need to be experienced too.

As a single traveller I went to this place with high expectations. Although I booked 2 days in advance they sat me at the bar, together with couples and other single diners, in a very unconfourtable seat. The atmosphere is nice, but mostly tourists. Which says it all about the place. The food was served cold (grilled meat with rice…) and the service was careless. The desert was good. Basically, totally lack of respect for the customers. Even if the food was great, but that is not the case.
