We visited Stand as a group of eight and unfortunately left quite disappointed. One of us has a strict dairy-free requirement, as well as lactose-free. The booking was made through our hotel, so we understand there may have been some miscommunication, but this really should have been clarified at the start of the meal. Instead, one course was simply skipped without any explanation, and we were still charged the full menu price. We only realised something was missing and had to ask about it ourselves, which felt quite awkward. Even if a dish can’t be adapted, it should at least be communicated clearly, or an alternative offered. There were also issues with how things were communicated. For example, we came specifically hoping to try the signature apple dessert, but it was replaced without any explanation. Only later were we told that for groups of four or more, a different dessert is served by default unless requested. This was never mentioned to us at any point. Service overall felt quite rigid and not very attentive. It wasn’t unfriendly, but there was little effort to guide us through the menu or explain decisions, and some basic fine dining details were missing. As for the food, the presentation was beautiful, but at least three dishes were noticeably too salty, which affected the overall experience. Overall, it just didn’t feel like the level of care and attention we would expect from a two-star restaurant, especially when it comes to communication and handling dietary requirements.

Experience Hungarian tasting menu at Strand Etterem Budapest ✨ In Budapest, Strand is known as a quintessential, fine dining with 2-Michelin stars Hungarian dining destination, where guests embark on a complete culinary journey — from Hungarian seasonal ingredients to refined service. 🌸 Ambience & Service Artistry The space reflects the spirit of fine dininv: minimalist and elegant, yet warm and intimate. The staff are very professional and dedicated. Cuisine: The highlight of the Chef's menu lies in the combination between traditional Hungarian meals and international foods, paired with truffle, caviar, and more. The sequence of dishes is thoughtfully arranged: light and fresh at the beginning, rich and bold in the middle, then finishing with refined balance through dessert. ❤️ My two favorite dishes: Wagyu beef soup and Beef Wellington in Hungarian style. Dessert & Aftertaste: The journey concludes with a variety of desserts. I love the Apple but not apple. 😅😂. ⭐ Highly recommended in Budapest!

@lydieats 💕 Our final meal in the city!! Spanning over four hours, this dinner was the perfect ending. Stand feels deeply Hungarian in a way that’s modern, elevated, and very complete 🥹 Two things that truly “stand” out are the service and the storytelling. The staff is incredibly attentive, refilling our glasses after each sip. As for the dishes, each one has a clear purpose and incorporates a lot of cultural details. I loved that the local flavors we tried (làngos, gulyás, túró) made appearances and we got to taste their most refined forms 👏 I would def save this for the last day of the trip so your taste buds aren’t spoiled! Starts off with a couple of gorgeous bites and beautiful soups. A chilled golden beetroot with tiny apple balls, then a “lecsó” of smoked tomato consommé. Then comes my favorite part, the individual bread baskets!!! Paired with brown butter and paprika spread. So indulgent 🤰 There were so many standouts it’s hard to pick one. The liver bonbon, sitting on duck rillette and topped with shaved liver, was rich yet delicate. Followed by the award-winning sterlet & langoustine swirl. This was full of flavor with the dill & caviar clam sauce. The main genuinely impressed me (rly rare imo). Venison was tender, lightly gamey, and completed the meal And for the ultimate highlight, their “apple a day” dessert 🍎 It was originally created for Bocuse d’Or’s “Feed the Children” theme and now we get to feast on it. The apple shaped vanilla mousse is filled with passion fruit and raspberry and topped with “earth” made of hazelnut and popping candy. There is so much happening but everything comes together perfectly. It’s delicate, sweet, sour, and such a bright ending. Brings out the child in you.

By far the best meal we had in Hungary. The team at stand earns every bit of their two Michelin stars. The team works together flawlessly to ensure the diner has a perfect experienced. Writing reviews for restaurants of this quality always proves to be challenging as there are “no notes”! If the price tag of fine dining doesn’t bother you then this place should be a priority on your visit to Budapest!

I came to Stand for my 30th birthday and my brother treated me to the 8 course chef’s menu with wine pairing and honestly, it was the craziest culinary experience of my life. Every single dish was perfect. Not “great,” not “amazing”, it was perfect. The flavours, textures, creativity, presentation… each course felt like its own moment. The service and overall experience were 10/10 from start to finish. But the wine pairing is what completely blew me away. Every glass didn’t just match the dish, it harmonised with it. The pairing felt like a bridge connecting two beautiful places; the wine elevated the food, and the food elevated the wine, in a way I’ve never experienced before. If you’re thinking about coming here, do it. This is a world class dining experience and easily the best meal I’ve ever had.
