The exterior is impressive, but it is the interior that truly takes your breath away. The scale of the building, the magnificent dome, intricate carvings, stunning artwork and vast amounts of marble and gilding combine to create a space that feels both grand and peaceful. Despite being one of Budapest's most popular attractions, the basilica retains a sense of reverence and tranquillity. Whether you visit for its religious significance, its architecture or simply to admire its beauty, there is something here for everyone. The climb to the dome is well worth the effort, offering spectacular panoramic views across Budapest and providing a unique perspective of the city. The treasury and chapels are also worth taking the time to explore. Beautifully maintained, historically significant and architecturally stunning, St. Stephen's Basilica is an absolute must-visit when in Budapest and one of the highlights of the city.
St. Stephen’s Basilica was absolutely amazing amazing!! I did mot enter inside because I visited on a Sunday afternoon but it was one of the unique buildings I saw in Budapest. It’s definitely a must-see landmark and one of the most impressive places I visited. The architecture seemed breathtaking and it was so unique even looking from outside. It is very central, surrounded by cafes, restaurants, bakeries. So must see place!
St. Stephen’s Basilica was absolutely breathtaking. From the moment we stepped inside, we were amazed by the stunning architecture, intricate details, and the peaceful yet grand atmosphere. Every corner of the basilica felt majestic and beautifully designed. Climbing up to the tower was truly worth it — the view from the top completely took our breath away. Seeing the city from above was an unforgettable experience and made the visit even more special. It’s definitely a must-see landmark and one of the most impressive places we visited.
An impressive and beautiful basilica with stunning architecture and a grand presence. The area around it is lively and full of atmosphere. It was very crowded during my visit, and after waiting for some time I decided not to go inside. Even so, the exterior alone is magnificent and definitely worth seeing.
£15 for views of the entire city, absolutely worth it! Even with the scary climb up a thousand stairs. The inside of the church is beautiful and rivals those of Rome. The treasury was very interesting as well. We got there early in the day and we didn’t have to queue or wait at all.
