We took the guided tour of Memento Park and greatly enjoyed it. Our guide, provided so much interesting commentary about each monument as well as background about what was happening in Budapest/Hungary at the time each monument was created/erected. I'd recommend Memento Park, but even more so, I'd recommend the tour. Without it, we wouldn't have understood what we were looking at nearly as well.

Amazing if you are aware of what you are going to see. If not, it probably isn't the best attraction and I wouldn't recommend it unless you actually have an interest in communism. The location is kind of in the middle of nowhere but public transport takes you right there. The statues of Lenin and Stalin's heads can be easy to miss as I don't recall any signage. These statues are located down the stairs by Stalin's boots.

About 20 minutes from the city center you'll find this thoughtfully designed display of Hungary's disavowed past, containing statues and plaques glorifying now despised and/or forgotten figures. The exhibition hall across the street also featured a fascinating documentary film splicing together communist era training films detailing how to place bugs, recruit snitches and more. Sitting in the sunlight and grass contemplating the horrors perpetrated over so many people with such an empty result left me quite emotional tbh. Worth a visit.

Really unique outdoor sculpture park with pieces from communist Hungary. Especially poignant as trees around the dark statues are beginning to bloom. Make sure to watch the video too-it provides some interesting insight into the era. Don’t miss Stalin’s boots, replicated from a massive statue of the leader torn down during the 1956 Hungarian revolution. Worth a diversion.

A fascinating venue on the outskirts of Budapest. About 25 minutes from the city by taxi. Entry is about 300 HUF. Well worth a visit to experience the relics of the Soviet era that have been centralized in one place. Takes about an hour to wander around and take in the enormous scale of some of the statues. We were fortunate to visit on a cold and snowy day, which gave the whole park a different outlook.
