This Italian bakery celebrating its centennial this year! I randomly visited on Wednesday evening and just walked in; later, a friend said there's always a long queue… Lobster Tail: Their signature item, actually a cream-filled croissant. The bread was crisp but a bit hard, but the cream wasn't surprisingly sweet! A pleasant surprise! Creme Brulee: So delicious it brought tears to my eyes lol! Extremely delicate and silky yet still slightly springy, with an incredibly rich egg and milk flavor, and a gentle vanilla aroma. A bit unexpected was that the caramel was the kind of syrup used in crème caramel. But I don't really like the caramel coating of the original that may stick on teeth, so it's fine! It's a plus! I brought the same items for my roommates, and they both thought they were delicious too 🥰
We where told this was the best place in the city to get an authentic Italian pastry 24 hours a day-they were so right! Best cannolis we have ever had! The line was long but it moves quickly. There is so much to see you don’t notice the time in line. The reward is worth the walk and the wait.
Classic North End 'basement vibe'—it’s a tiny, very claustrophobic space. Since they are open 24 hours, be prepared to stand in a really long line (I waited an hour). To be honest, the pastries look pretty mediocre in the display case, but despite the looks, some of them actually taste really good. However, I’m not sure I’d wait an hour in that environment again just for a pastry. Good for a late-night fix, but the experience is intense
Bova’s – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Stars Authentic Italian Heaven (Open 24 Hours!) If you are looking for a true Italian bakery that hits every craving at any hour, Bova’s is the spot. The variety is honestly a bit overwhelming because there are too many good options, but that just means there’s something for everyone... And another reason to come back often! What to Try: The Signature Pair: I had an iced latte with a Florentine cannoli; the shell was perfectly crisp and authentic. (Think praline shell without the nuts with the creamiest, fluffiest, nummiest filling) Sweet Treats: Their Italian macaroons, tiramisu, and red velvet cake are all top-tier. Savory Side: Don't sleep on the pizzas and calzones; they are just as good as the pastries. The Vibe: The staff is super friendly and patient, even when it’s busy. It’s rare to find a 24-hour place that keeps the quality this high and the service this welcoming. Bottom Line: Whether it’s a 3 AM snack or a morning coffee run, this is one of the best authentic spots in town.
Authentic italian pastry shop, tried the top three in Boston (FYI I'm from NYC) and Bova was the best! Sfogliatelle were fresh warm and just like Italy! Their raspberry Milanos were the best I've ever had, anywhere! So happy the family keeps the business going generation after generation. And they are 24 hours, which is great if you are trying to catch an early morning flight home and want to pick things up fresh!!!
