I tried the Peking duck at Siji Minfu Roast Duck, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The duck skin was perfectly crispy and golden, while the meat was tender and juicy. Wrapped with thin pancakes, fresh scallions, and sauce — every bite was balanced and flavorful. You can really taste the quality and the care in preparation. But what truly surprised me was their braised beef in tomato. It was so good. The beef was incredibly soft and tender, and the tomato sauce was rich, slightly sweet, and comforting — the kind of dish that feels like a warm hug after a long day of walking around Beijing. If you’re in Wangfujing and craving authentic, well-executed Beijing dishes, this place is definitely worth the visit. Crowded for a reason — the food speaks for itself. 🇨🇳✨
Tried to walk-in in their tianmen branch but informed us that we need to wait for 4 hours. Tried our luck in Qianmen branch near to our hotel, long queue but worth the wait (which is 1 hour+++ by the way). Queue moves fast also as there are 100 in queue before us. In their waiting area got snacks to munch in and drinks. Would see the woodfire where they cook the roasted duck. We ordered half size of peking duck, their mushroom with truffle and cheese, fried rice & pork soup. Everything was good and the portion is good for the both of us. Highly recommended to try while in China, cos in SG the price is doubled just for a half duck size.
We did the right thing to arrived at 10.45am prior to a photoshoot. Ordered half peking duck and foie grais toast, zhajiang mian and durian creme brulee. Total damage only RMB298! Appetisers and lycee are complimentary! Five star service...the duck was amazing! It was indeed the best peking duck I've eaten! It's a MUST EAT if you're in Beijing!
We came here mainly for the Peking Duck and it did not disappoint at all. We ordered the duck along with a few other dishes and wine—everything was absolutely delicious. There was a long queue, but it was totally worth the wait. The staff were friendly, attentive, and handled the crowd very well. Highly recommended if you’re looking for authentic Peking Duck.
Authentic Wood-Fired Duck with a Familiar Flavor Profile I visited the Qianmen branch around 3:30 PM, which turned out to be the "golden hour." I only waited about 5 minutes for a table, whereas the queue during peak lunch or dinner times can easily stretch to 2 or 3 hours. If you aren't a fan of long waits, I strongly suggest arriving mid-afternoon. The Food Experience What sets this place apart is the roasting method using date bark wood, which gives the duck a subtle, smoky aroma. The skin is thin and remarkably crispy without being overly oily. For Thai travelers or those who prefer a well-rounded taste, the dipping sauce here is excellent. It has a balanced sweet-and-salty profile that feels very familiar—much like the high-quality roasted duck styles we enjoy in Thailand, but with that authentic Beijing crispiness. It isn't one-dimensionally salty like some other traditional heritage brands in the city, making it very "easy to eat" and satisfying. I also opted to have the remaining duck carcass turned into soup. It came in a massive bowl with cabbage and tofu; the broth was light, clean, and a great way to end the meal without feeling weighed down. The Atmosphere & Service The restaurant has a great view of the Qianmen old street, especially from the window seats. The open kitchen area where they roast the ducks is a nice touch for those who like to see the process. Service is efficient, though communication can be a hurdle as English is limited. However, the system is modern—one of the best features is the "Scan to Pay" system via Alipay at the table. It is incredibly convenient and saves you from having to flag down a waiter when you're ready to leave. Points to Consider The Queue: While I got lucky, a 3-hour wait is a reality here. If you are stuck in line, they do provide free snacks like hawthorn flakes which are quite good. Communication: Have a translation app ready. Sides: There are many fancy side dishes, like cantaloupe served with the duck, but the duck itself and the soup are the real reasons to visit. Verdict It’s a solid choice for an authentic Peking Duck experience that feels accessible. The flavor profile is a safe bet for those who like a balanced sauce, and the digital management of the restaurant is impressive. Just be strategic about your timing to avoid the massive crowds.
