Honestly, had a really good time at Generator. The vibe is super chill, and they’ve got this brilliant lounge area which was perfect for just sitting back, doing absolutely nothing, and recovering from walking miles around the city. I didn't actually eat there because I was busy stuffing my face at other places nearby, but I walked past the bar a few times and it looked proper nice. Reckon the food and drinks would have been a safe bet if I’d actually managed to stop treating the local tapas bars like an all-you-can-eat buffet. The staff are total legends, too. On my first night, there was this absolutely roaring external fan outside my room window that sounded like a jet engine preparing for takeoff. I mentioned it to the desk, and they immediately sorted me out with some earplugs so I could actually get some sleep. Even better, they actually got someone to fix the thing the very next day. Love a team that actually gets stuff done. Definitely recommend this place if you want a cool, friendly spot to crash in Barça!
I signed up for the sangria making masterclass which was led by Olmedo at Generator Barcelona! He was so lovely and explained us the process very calmly and had a fun time!! Sangrias turned out to be super yummm, 100% recommend to do if you’re staying here!
Great stay! Special thanks to receptionists Yeniken and Anastasia. They were really friendly and helpful. The hostel is clean and well-located. Highly recommend!
The location is within walking distance of the bus and metro, and there are very nice relaxation areas inside. It's designed so you can relax and have a pleasant time. The rooms were clean and had a bathroom and toilet. You need to bring your own towels, but you can get a hairdryer for a deposit. On the Saturday evening I stayed, there was a karaoke night and it was very enjoyable, I definitely recommend it. It's both affordable and fun. The staff are also very friendly. You can also get discounted food from the taco cocaine across the street. There are lockers under the beds, but you need to bring your own lock. There are also lockers available for rent; you can store your belongings there after checking out. The hostel is located very close to the "Arda Turan" bank :)
I recently stayed at this hostel in Barcelona and overall had a good experience, especially considering the price I paid (around €15 for one night). It’s important to evaluate it as a hostel — not a hotel — and within that category, I found it to be a solid option. 📍 Location & Booking The hostel is very well located, which makes it convenient for exploring the city. Prices are quite affordable, especially if you book a few days in advance. The entire reservation process can be done online, which is very practical. One important thing to know: they operate with a base rate system. The standard price covers the bed, but anything extra comes with an additional cost. For example, if you want to: • Choose your specific bunk (top or bottom) in advance • Add breakfast • Rent a towel Each of these services has an extra fee. However, when I arrived, I politely asked about available beds and was able to choose a bottom bunk without paying extra. 🔐 Check-in & Security The hostel offers self check-in and self check-out machines, which makes the process quick and convenient. The building is large, with many rooms, and access to rooms is controlled by key card, which adds a sense of security. 🌍 Common Areas & Atmosphere Beyond just being a place to sleep, the hostel has a social atmosphere. There’s a small bar area, shared spaces with TV and music, and common areas where you can relax or meet other travelers. It’s a good place if you’re open to socializing. ⸻ 🛏 Rooms There are different room configurations (8, 12, or even 16 beds). Inside the room: ✅ Positive Points • Each bed has its own power outlet (not just USB), which is great. I recommend bringing a multi-port USB/USB-C charger so you can charge multiple devices at once. • Each bed also has an individual reading light. • Bedding is provided (small duvet, bed sheets, and pillow). • Each bed has a large drawer underneath where you can store your belongings. You’ll need your own padlock (or you can buy one there), so I recommend bringing one. • The room has its own bathroom with a toilet, shower, and sink. • Additionally, each floor has shared bathrooms with multiple showers, sinks, and toilets. • Hot and cold water worked well. ⚠️ Points for Improvement • The room had a noticeable odor (likely from guests’ shoes), and it felt a bit stuffy. Opening the window helped. • The in-room bathroom was functional but could have been cleaner. • The shower curtain had some mold. • I didn’t find a hairdryer in my floor’s bathroom, although there was a holder for one. • There are no curtains around the beds, which would provide more privacy — especially since people come in and out at different times. ⸻ 📝 Final Thoughts For the price I paid, I found the experience acceptable and fair. It’s not a luxury stay, but if you’re looking for a budget-friendly, well-located hostel with basic comfort and a social vibe, it’s a good option. Just keep in mind: • Base rate = bed only • Extras cost more • Bring your own padlock • Manage expectations regarding privacy and cleanliness Overall, I would recommend it for travelers who prioritize location and price over comfort and privacy.
