The temple is very nice—well maintained and overall pleasant to walk around. However, beware of the monkeys; I saw them stealing phones and then exchanging them for food. Make sure you keep all your belongings securely packed away. Overall, you can spend about 1 to 1.5 hours walking around the temple.
Awesome place with a beautiful backdrop of mountain, temple and the sea. Must visit place for all tourists of Bali. We have to be very careful with the monkeys over here because they are very aggressive and they snatch your spectacles and caps without even a hint. Locals say that this place is the most beautiful sunset spot in the island.
There was so much to explore here. It definitley helps to have a guide explain things for you. I wouldn't have explored some of the areas if it weren't for my guide. Be warned, the monkeys here are pretty relentless though. They were taking water bottles, hats, and things in peoples hands if they weren't paying attention. We also witnessed one steal someones glasses(not sunglasses) and hide/leave them about 20 feet down on the side of the cliff where the person could not get to them. Also, stay for the whole kecak show. It starts off a little slow, but gets much better about 1/4 of the way through. They give you a paper explaining what the different sections of the shows mean. You definitely need to read it. Plus, near the end once Hanoman comes in, the show starts to get really funny.
If you plan to watch the Kecak dance, this venue offers one of the best experiences. There are two performances daily, at 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM. It is recommended to arrive by at least 5:15 PM to secure a seat with a good view. Be cautious around the monkeys, as they can be quite aggressive and are known to snatch belongings. During my visit, I witnessed monkeys grabbing sunglasses directly off visitors' faces and even taking water bottles from their hands. Keep your valuables secure at all times. Also, don't miss the opportunity to see the rare white monkey housed in the enclosure.
A truly beautiful place to visit, especially at sunset. The views over the cliffs and ocean are absolutely stunning and make the trip well worth it. A few practical tips: entry to the temple must be paid in cash. Also, be very careful with the monkeys! Remove any jewelry, sunglasses, hats, and other loose items before entering. Keep a firm grip on your bag and make sure your phone is secured with a strap. The monkeys are incredibly bold and will grab almost anything they can. We even saw them steal people’s flip flops! I would recommend watching the sunset first and then attending the second Kecak Dance performance afterwards.
